Navigating college applications, coordinating campus tour visits, and studying for the SATs can be overwhelming for any high school student, especially those who are first-generation students and may come from low-income backgrounds. UGA is working to support the needs of these students in Athens-Clarke County and neighboring counties through TRIO programs.

These college access grant programs provide local high school students with support and resources for pursuing higher education.

Ireland 2026 🇮🇪
OSSA’s Professional Development Abroad program spent two weeks in June exploring Dublin, Galway, and other areas of Ireland. The inaugural class of students honed their professional development skills while also meeting with a number of small business owners and companies, learning about what it means to be a professional in Ireland. From audio engineering at Windmill Lane Recording Studios (where U2, Lady Gaga, Hozier, and more have recorded studio albums), to learning about ecotourism in Howth, or sustainable sheep farming at Glengowla Mines family farm outside of Galway, these UGA students grew both personally and professionally. And to top it off, the students got to engage in a number of amazing cultural experiences: GAA Sports Club, Cliffs of Moher and Kilkee Cliffs, touring Trinity College and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and seeing every shade of green while exploring the beautiful countryside. These experiences helped them grow closer as a group, while also growing a deeper appreciation for Irish culture and community.

The award recognizes UGA for "stepping into the partnership with energy, dedication, and a clear commitment to scholar success and for creating new opportunities, inspiring all of us to show up even stronger.”

Achieve Atlanta works to ensure that Atlanta Public School students have access to college and succeed once they get there.

Presentation shoutout! ⭐Sarah Henson, OSSA's Coordinator of Peer Education, and Blythe Jones, a Lead Peer Tutor who recently graduated, presented a session today at the Southeastern College Learning Association Conference at Georgia Tech on the impact of AI on peer tutoring.
