💜 Big things are ahead for our newest student leaders!

GEAR UP SWV is excited to welcome a new group of students to our Leadership Program, representing 12 high schools across the region!

With Joshua Perez lead the introduction ceremony in Beckley that brought everything from rock-paper-scissors to selfies.
Our kickoff brought students together to make connections, build friendships, and discover what’s ahead through GEAR UP.

Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to strengthen their leadership skills, explore college and career pathways, get involved in their communities, build confidence, and take part in experiences that encourage them to step outside their comfort zones.

We’re excited to watch these students grow, encourage one another, take on new challenges, and discover the many ways they can make a difference in their schools and communities.

We’re just getting started, and there’s so much ahead! 💜

Dual Enrollment & Dual Credit give students a powerful head start on their future.
With dual enrollment, students take real college classes while still in high school. Dual credit means one class counts twice - toward high school graduation and college requirements.
These opportunities help students build confidence, save money, and explore career pathways early.
GEAR UP SWV is here to support families every step of the way as students prepare for life after graduation. 🎓
