40 years ago Goonies was filmed in Astoria, OR.

7 years ago we moved here, and now our little red head thinks weekly beach trips and being a Goonie is just a way of life. The old jail is now a film museum, the Flavel House is so fun to visit and Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach (where One Eyed W***y kept his treasure) is still a favorite of ours.

Fort Clatsop

There is a place where you can explore Lewis and Clark's ⛺️ camp of 1805. At Fort Clatsop you can see how they lived and camped that winter. And if you time it right might get a chance to see a gun 🔫 show!

The welcome center has age appropriate scavenger 📋 hunts and we really enjoyed it. Did you know there was a fish 🐟 that was so fatty and such a great source of light they called it the candle fish? Clark said it was such a perfect 🔦 light source all you had to do was stick a wick in it and it would be the perfect candle!

Anyone else ready for the blood moon?!?
We made a moon stamp with aluminum foil and had a good discussion about coloring and shades of gray and black. Then we watched a video and learned about umbra and preumbra. Now to see if mom can stay up AND wake up her little monster at 11:26 (totality in OR)
