URGENT PLEASE READ!!
Over the weekend, our dog, Digger, became very ill. We noticed that his nose began to run on Saturday morning. Come late Saturday evening he began to experience diarrhea, which continued throughout the evening into Sunday morning. On Sunday morning, he became lethargic and would not eat or drink very much. Around 1:45PM on Sunday afternoon Digger began violently throwing up a terrible bright yellow stomach bile type substance. We immediately rushed him to the Vet. After 3 hours, they had run numerous blood and urine tests and took x-rays to determine what may be causing this illness and could not come to any conclusions...
Now... this morning my mom brought to my attention that three top-brand "All Natural" dog chicken jerky treats have been linked to the cause of 600 severe illnesses, kidney failures and deaths in dogs. These treats in fact are not "all natural" or "organic" as we are being led to believe... as a matter of fact, they are all produced in China.
Below are the three brands:
CANYON CREEK RANCH
WAGGIN' TRAIN
MILO'S KITCHEN
My heart had immediately dropped into my stomach upon learning about this, as I had just fed Digger a CANYON CREEK RANCH CHICKEN JERKY TREAT on Friday afternoon around 4PM. It was the very next day, on Saturday morning that his symptoms began.
The FDA has been conducting an investigation and is receiving hundreds of incident reports from dog owners and Veterinarians whose dogs have become ill or died due to these treats. I just called the FDA to make my report and will be contacting our Vet shortly.
These treats have yet to be pulled off of the shelves because the FDA is still conducting their investigation... Apparently 600 cases linked directly to these treats has not been enough evidence to recall the treats.
Please read the attached article regarding this matter and inform all of your family and friends who have dogs. We have been feeding Digger a variety of treats made by Canyon Creek Ranch, as we were under the impression that these were all natural dog treats - which is what they advertise!! This is a crime, as is any type of misleading or false advertisement pertaining to humans or animals. I am determined to get these treats pulled off of the shelves.
We are so blessed and thank God that Digger has survived this scary situation. We were very concerned... and due to this, it has inspired us to completely change his diet regarding food and treats. Digger now eats brown rice and chicken breast for breakfast and dinner... and will be eating truly all natural home made treats prepared by Britni.
