Dear Classmates,
We hope this message finds you well and enjoying the last days of summer. We wanted to update you on a change of plans for our reunion celebration. After much consideration, we've decided to postpone our November 20, 2021 event until Spring 2022. This postponement shall forever be known as our "Delta Decision", thanks to Trisha's great play on words.
We have concerns about the safety of hosting an indoor event, given the rising Covid numbers in our area and the spread of the Delta variant. It would be difficult to enforce mask wearing requirements inside and we have no way of knowing whether everyone is vaccinated. Many of us are in the high risk category and no one wants to jeopardize anyone's health or safety. We don't want our class legacy to be that we hosted a super spreader event. We're smarter than that!
We have Plan B in the works. It could end up being The Best Plan of All! As we continue to strategize how to safely meet and enjoy one another's company, we are still asking for your help in locating classmates. As of today, we have email addresses for only 62 of our 264 surviving classmates. Please continue to send us any contact information you may find, and keep the reunion in mind if you run into classmates. Ask them if they've been contacted, and if not, ask them for their email address. Every little bit helps. The focus of this spring gathering will be to reconnect with old friends - those of us who were at the same place at the same time as high school seniors, trying to figure out how to navigate a very uncertain world as we stepped out into it. The gathering will be a celebration of all of us - we're still standing and still smiling. We may have aged, and may have taken many different paths, but we hope your path will bring you back to Ashland for one night of celebration in the spring. We will update you as plans firm up.
To thank everyone for understanding our difficult but necessary Delta Decision, we have a party favor for you. If you send your home mailing address to [email protected], we'll send you a memento of these challenging times, We hope it will make you laugh!
Again, we'll work hard on Plan B - an outdoor event in the spring. We think you may like it even better!
All the best to each of you - and remember, 51 could be even more fun!
