Hey y'all.
Consent warning: sexual assault
Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFAS)
is when someone uses substances to make another person unable to consent to sexual activity.
It’s estimated that 90% of assaults are by people known to the survivors.
What’s being used:
By far, the most commonly used substance, either alone or in conjunction with other substances, is Alcohol. It’s the most common and readily available and lowers inhibitions and impulse control.
While Hollywood would have us believe the danger is in some shadowy figure spiking a drink in the corner, it more often looks like peer pressure and coercion to ‘keep drinking’,‘c’mon, just one more’, or free shots/drinks until the person can’t say “No”.
If you ever find yourself hanging out with people that push consumption of ANY substance, Sweetie, that’s a Red flag and I recommend you G**O ASAP as those people don’t have your best interests at heart.
Now even though Hollywood exaggerated Stranger Danger with spiked drinks, GHB and Rohypnol still exist, and both are very dangerous when combined with alcohol.
Recently, though, the substance landscape has shifted as ketamine has become more popular. Potent enough on its own, ketamine’s sedative effects are also compounded with alcohol. Ketamine causes ataxia, or the loss of motor function and control, meaning someone may not be physically capable of speaking to give or revoke consent.
Lastly, Ambien has been in the news for all the wrong reasons.
What is it: a non-benzodiazepine sedative-hypnotic
What’s that mean: it causes intense sedation and drowsiness; effects are compounded with alcohol.
Tablets dissolve easily in liquids without changing color or taste.
Harm Reduction:
Abstaining from Alcohol is a healthy life choice by itself.
If you choose to consume alcohol, do not mix with other substances and do not leave your beverage unattended, ever.
Buddy system: go out with friends and make sure at least one other person knows EXACTLY how much of everything you’ve consumed.
Warning signs to look for:
Extreme drowsiness that doesn't match what/how much they’ve consumed
Sudden confusion, slurred speech, or loss of coordination
Going "in and out" — appears awake but unresponsive
What to do if you suspect a dosing/assault:
Go to the nearest ER and ask for a SANE nurse; speed matters as the substances will be out of the body in 12-72 hours.
Get the Facts About Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault
Drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA) is a serious form of sexual violence that remains underreported and clouded by myths that blame victims instead of holding perpetrators accountable. This violation of bodily autonomy is never the survivor’s fault—because everyone deserves to feel safe, supp...

For me, Harm Reduction is Communal Effort, Participation, and Civic Responsibility.
I'm grateful to have gotten to partner up with Soleil Rose and Strawberry Shortcamp at Emergence. Together the team taught classes, passed out naloxone, did demos on using test strips, and provided reagent testing. We also practiced a lot of Immediacy, and the below pic is the only I have from the event.
We already have plans on ways to improve it next year 😉

Nootropic Tripping
Hello, beautiful party people!
Today we're talking about "Mushroom Chocolates" you might have seen in your local shop, like the one pictured below.
Tl;Dr: they're potentially dangerous, with unknown ingredients
At first glance this looks legit, doesn't it? I mean it's got a QR code to the Certificate of Analysis, that means it's good, right?
Well, about that.
Attached is the COA for this product, and the key thing to notice is There's NOTHING in it. All of the substances tested for are ND, meaning Not Detected.
So what's producing the "trippy" effect?
When looking at ingredients, pay attention to the following phrase: 'Proprietary Nootropic Blend', and when you find it, back away slowly and leave that ish alone.
Nootropics cover a wide variety and include caffeine, L-Theanine, creatine, 5-HTP, GABA, Blue Lotus, Ashwaganda, and more.
While those substances are usually therapeutic, everyone reacts differently, appropriate dosing is paramount, and the bottom line is the only person that knows what's in it is who made it.
As always, the rules are
1. Stay Alive and
2. Remember It
That said, I would not put this in my body.

Hey there, beautiful people!
Two things: I'm really excited and happy, and I need help.
I'm excited and happy because I've created a new drug interaction matrix! 😁😍
I need help from a graphic designer to finalize it.
Please DM me to discuss it. This is time sensitive as ideally I'd like to debut the chart at Emergence.
Pic because F**k Yes.

Right now, DanceSafe is at a critical moment for our future. To stabilize operations and continue serving communities safely and responsibly, we need to raise $100,000 and rebuild a strong base of monthly donors. This support allows us to sustain core outreach and drug checking services and respond to the needs we see every day.
Demand for DanceSafe’s work has never been higher, but the landscape we operate in has changed. Like many community-centered nonprofits, we’re navigating a period of transition.
➡️ The cost of providing services has risen sharply
➡️ Funding for harm reduction remains unstable and politically vulnerable
➡️ Our programs rely on extensive volunteer labor and are resource-intensive to maintain.
If this work has ever helped you or someone you care about, please consider donating, purchasing harm reduction supplies or merch, or even sharing this post. Everything helps.
Your support helps protect harm reduction, community care, and safer nights for everyone.

Hey there, Asheville party people, I need your attention.
Xylazine
What is it?
A powerful veterinary tranquilizer (nicknamed tranq)
What's it do?
Again, It's a powerful sedative. It mimics an opioid OD and does NOT respond to naloxone. Frequent use results in necrotic wounds.
Why is it dangerous?
Like fentanyl, it doesn't mix evenly across powders and the ONLY way to accurately test is to dissolve ALL of it in H2O and then use a test strip. (It can still be consumed afterward)
What are you looking at in the picture?
5 test strips; 4 positive results and a control at the bottom.

Dr Oz seems to have had a memory lapse and forgotten "Primum non nocere" or First, Do No Harm.
While I do not condemn or condone substance use, the biological facts show that alcohol is a poison to the human body.
With kindness and compassion, if you're struggling with winter depression, as a central nervous system depressant alcohol is gonna make it worse.

Hello beautiful party people!
For those that celebrate, tonight is New Year's Eve.
Here's a brief Harm Reduction Party Guide:
Alcohol: America's 2nd favorite drug. Central nervous system depressant, meaning it Does Not Mix well with other substances*. Be wary of the dude offering k3tamine to women drinking; ket and alcohol are a potential SA combo.
It takes the liver 1 hour to metabolize a shot of liquor, 4 oz of wine, or 12 oz of 5% beer.
*Alcohol and cannabis are synergistic, meaning they amplify the effects of each other. Before you get too excited at the idea of being crossfaded, synergy means the negative/unpleasant effects can also be amplified, like nausea and vertigo.
If you’re gonna consume alcohol, then please only consume alcohol, otherwise you’re wasting party favors because, again, alcohol is a central nervous system depressant. The effects of anything else are gonna be muted.
Hail Hydrate to help prevent hangover
If you’re getting all rolly-polly this evening: again, don’t mix with alcohol as the effects will be muted. Keep in mind that too much of a good thing can result in Erectile Dysfunction, and 18-24 hours AFTER you finish being rolly-polly, a 5-HTP supplement and tryptophan supplement will help ease the crash.
