Drop-in to Countertechnique® with Joy Davis during DELVE! We are thrilled to welcome back Joy for her 4th season of teaching at DELVE.

JOY DAVIS is a dance artist, educator, and mother. She is a Senior Countertechnique® Teacher and holds an MFA in Choreography & Performance from Smith College. Joy has been on faculty at Boston Conservatory at Berklee since 2016; is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance at Davidson College. Joy has taught at Harvard University, Smith College, Wesleyan University, UNC Charlotte, the Juilliard School, American Dance Festival (ADF), FACT/SF Dance Lab, and One Body One Career Countertechnique® Intensive. joyproject is a platform for creation, collaboration and production, having created numerous independent works, commissions for colleges and dance companies in North America. Together with Alexander Davis, Joy co-founded The Davis Sisters (TDS), creating absurdist dance theater in which they play magnified versions of themselves. Joy is a collective member of Goodyear Arts, a recipient of NC Choreographers Residency Project and ASC Creative Mecklenburg grant, and regularly collaborates with husband, Eric Mullis; together they have recently founded Dance Lab/CLT -a platform for professional training and experimental performance curation. Joy cherishes the integration of artistic and family life.

Join S/O Dance Artistic Directors Gavin Stewart and Vanessa Owen for a three-day contemporary dance workshop. Participants will train, create, and collaborate to develop an original piece of choreography, culminating in an informal open rehearsal and community sharing on the final day. Open to adults (18+) with some dance experience.

Join us this Saturday for a masterclass led by acclaimed choreographer Banning Bouldin, Artistic Director of the Nashville-based company New Dialect, whose work will be featured on the Stewart/Owen & Guests program.

Designed for intermediate to advanced dancers (15 & up), this class offers dancers the chance to dive deeply into the collaborative creative process tools Banning uses to develop new works. Dancers will explore generating detailed movement vocabularies and partnerships together and then use these skills to research scenes from Banning’s latest work, Echo Mother.
