We will be doing two Open Houses primarily for homeschooling/unschooling teens (and mature tweens) and their parents on Thursday, Sept 4 and Friday, Sept 5, from 12 noon to 3:30 pm. We are located at 27 Balm Grove Ave. in West Asheville.

Thursday will be the first day of our teen Fall offering, which so far has been only on Thursdays, so it will be a great opportunity to experience our teen/tween program. We are planning to offer a standalone arts & crafts program for teens on Fridays.

At the Open House you’ll have a chance to meet other teens and parents and learn more about our programs for teens. We will provide snacks and refreshments, but feel free to bring either to share. Also, we have supervised outdoor play space if you’d like to bring younger siblings.

Please RSVP at your earliest convenience to help us prepare or send any questions you have to [email protected]. If you’d like more information about Hawk Hill, our website is www.hawkhillavl.org.

We are excited to let you know that Hawk Hill will be moving to a new location starting this Monday, October 28. We are relocating to the former Peak Academy/Asheville Waldorf School building, 27 Balm Grove Ave, off Haywood Rd. in W AVL. Our schedule will be Mon - Wed, 9:30 am - 3:30 pm to start.

We will be occupying one large classroom to start and have access to a large fenced-in outdoor space that includes a field, a playground, basketball hoops, a pavilion with picnic tables, and more. The classroom has a door to the outside adjacent to the parking lot, which is behind the Trinity Methodist Church.

Pricing will continue as it has been for the last three weeks, which is a suggested $50/day with a sliding scale.

Please let us know if you'd like to join us!

P.S. Our teen involvement these past 3 weeks has been wonderful. Moving forward, we can imagine their involvement with Hawk Hill in two ways. One possibility is to play a leadership role as a junior facilitator. The other is to get support for pursuing their own learning activities, interests and passions.

As part of the relief efforts, we set up a space in W Asheville for kids who needed community, who needed to be with other kids, who needed a place to just be a kid - which also allowed their parents room to deal with everything happening in their lives. Here are some photos.

Hi Hawk Hill Community,
I wanted to put an update out there. Some of you know we had to move from Smith Mill works a month ago as the house required some construction. We are now at our facilitator Scott's home in West Asheville. Because it was a lot of change we wanted to wait until we settled before beginning to share again with the public. But things are going really well. We have a full Monday and Tuesday program going. We have a few spots left on our Tuesdays and are looking for a few more people to begin our Wednesdays. Scott's house works really well and we will stay there until we find a long-term space that works for everybody.

This week was April Fools' Day so we made our learning themes around that and held a royal court for the kids.
