We are excited and honored to be able to offer an Esalen Massage Certification Program here on the east coast in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. ble you to become a certified Esalen Massage Practitioner. Esalen Massage began at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA in the 1960's, and grew out of the human potential movement, the work of Charlotte Selver (sensory awareness), and Fritz Pearls (gestalt awareness practices). Esalen Massage is unique in that it stresses the importance of the practitioners relationship with him/herself and the quality of presence he/she brings to the therapeutic massage. It is comprised of approaches which draw from many of the great pioneers of bodywork who taught at the Esalen Institute, and will be presented as a form of somatic learning and a meditation for both giver and receiver. Esalen is know for it's very experiential approach to teaching and learning. Through present touch, movement, and meditation we will explore the integration of body, mind, and spirit. Experiential learning classes will enable students to develop a balance between technique, intuition, and creativity. The daily schedule includes lessons in:
*experiential anatomy and kinesiology
*self care for bodyworkers
*awareness practices
*massage demonstrations
*supervised massage practice sessions
*experiential ethics and pathology
*the most current trends in Esalen Massage and somatic bodywork
*group facilitation

This training is designed to be deeply transformational and will give you tools for awakening your senses and bringing more awareness to your massage practice and your life. It is for certified massage & bodywork practitioners wanting to deepen their bodywork practice and add the Esalen approach to their work. Following the satisfactory completion of this program, students wishing to complete the certification process will have 6 months to document massage sessions. Upon payment of a $150 processing fee, an Esalen Massage & Bodywork Certificate will be issued. The fee for this 15 day training is $2400 and includes lunch each day of class. Register with full tuition payment before April 15 and automatically receive a $150 discount. We are also offering payment in three installments of $800 each. The first payment is due with registration. The second payment will be due on February 1 and the final payment is due on April 15. Payments may be made using a credit card (PayPal) or by check.
