The NC SBCN/SBTDC’s Annual Professional Development Joint Conference in Asheville Nov. 19-21 featured two of A-B Tech's favorite partners: Asheville Tea Company founder and co-owner Jessie Dean and Advanced Superabrasives General Manager Jonathan Szucs. The two locals spoke on a closing panel and drew standing ovations. Dean has been a longtime client of A-B Tech's Small Business Center and Incubation program at A-B Tech Enka. Szucs and Advanced Superabrasives in Madison County have supported the college in numerous ways, including internships and apprenticeships for students, hiring A-B Tech graduates, and donating to the college. We're grateful to them for sharing their stories! The conference brought together Small Center Center professionals from throughout the state.

Gevony Foreman is an A-B Tech Emergency Services alum who works as a paramedic in Henderson County. In 2021, thanks to two life-changing events, Foreman made the decision to switch careers from wedding planner to paramedic. Behind that decision was a powerful calling to help people in times of crisis.

Foreman is grateful to be fulfilling that calling in her current role. “I love the people I work with and the excitement of never knowing what the day will bring,” she said. “I love having to think on my feet and preparing for any possible circumstance.”
In this short video shot before Foreman graduated in May 2024, she shares how she made the choice to change her life's direction and become a paramedic.

An A-B Tech art show that opened on Halloween explores students' answers to the question: What jumps to mind when you hear the phrase “Southern Gothic”? Is it a once- regal house that is now in decay? An eccentric high -society woman who secretly harbors the co**se of her dead lover? Or, simply a mood, both alluring and sinister, that lurks in the autumn air? Come see the variety of work made by A-B Tech students in this juried art show, which is open to the public. It will culminate in a closing reception on Friday, December 5. The artists will be in attendance and refreshments will be served.
