Yesterday, I walked past two kids standing in front of a Little Free Library.
“Hmmm, let’s see,” said the older one. “This one is good. And so is this one.”
He handed the younger kid two books.
“Yeah,” said the younger one. “But I can’t read them.”
“Duh, I know,” said the older one. “That’s why I’m going to read them to you.”

Oh, my heart--it lifted up in my chest when I heard this exchange.
Suddenly, everything seemed brighter, more possible.

I remember I was walking in HomeGoods when I was feeling like the 3rd cousin to Shrek and this lovely lady told me that the shirt I was wearing was a great color on me. It took 2 seconds and yet it really did make a difference.
