Just wrapped up my summer sessions with these boys!⚽

These boys consistently demonstrated great attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a genuine love of the game every time they stepped onto the field. I couldn't be prouder of the growth they all demonstrated, and I am excited to continue working with them in the future. Big things ahead for these boys!🔥

Don’t underestimate the value of simple lace-driven and side-foot volleys.
A locked ankle is one of the most essential - and often overlooked - fundamentals in technical development. Without it, even the best ideas fall flat.

In a recent session, we focused on mastering ankle locking for both techniques:

Laces: Heel up, toes down - imagine scrunching your toes toward your heel to maintain stability.

Side foot: Toes up, heel down - Imagine trying to pop your ankle bringing it as far outwards as possible to maintain consistent firmness and stability.

These foundational habits separate players who can execute under pressure from those who struggle. Build the base. Lock the ankle. Watch the rest of your game improve.

“I've had the privilege of coaching Ryan Rotter throughout his high school soccer career, and I can confidently say that his work ethic and determination are unmatched. Ryan wasn’t always the standout player he is today, he was actually cut as a freshman. But instead of letting that define him, he made a decision that set him apart: he worked harder than anyone else.
Ryan dedicated himself to mastering the fundamentals, going through the technical motions on his own, and refining every aspect of his game. His relentless commitment paid off, and he didn’t just earn his way back onto the team, he became a leader. By his senior year, he was a Varsity Captain, Class 5A First-Team-All-Jeffco selection, Arvada West Team MVP, and a two-time Varsity Letter recipient.
His drive for excellence extends beyond the field. Ryan is just as dedicated in the classroom, where he’s a valedictorian candidate with straight A’s and a two-time First Team All-State Academics honoree. Few athletes can match that level of balance and discipline.
Now, with 23R TekX, Ryan is channeling that same passion into helping the next generation of soccer players. He knows firsthand what it takes to develop technical ability and fundamentals because he had to teach himself those skills to succeed. With his 9v9 and 11v11 coaching licenses and Safe Sport Certification, he’s more than qualified to help young players grow. But what truly sets him apart is his ability to inspire.
If you're looking for someone who understands the journey of improvement, someone who has lived it, Ryan is the coach you want. I strongly recommend 23R TekX to any young athlete looking to elevate their game under the guidance of a coach who knows exactly what it takes to succeed”

Technical Emphasis: Scanning

Scanning is a crucial element during a game. Notice how checking my shoulder dictates how and where I take my first touch. By noticing an oncoming defender to my right, I could shield the ball effectively and shift the point of the attack to advance the ball. This element isn't just experience, it can be trained. Having young players make it a natural instinct to keep their head on the swivel is necessary to build soccer intelligence and make proper decisions!

To often players make the mistake of defending with square body positioning. Square body positioning allows attackers the liberty to dictate what angle they take while attacking. Notice in this clip my body position forces the attacker to the outside and cuts off the inside option. This allows me to first delay the attacker, then as he makes his move step in an make a forceful challenge resulting in a successful defensive play. Proper defensive body positioning is just like any other on-ball technical ability, and should be trained as such! Repetition and correction of body positioning is a necessary step in progressing as a player.
