We are so excited to introduce our Art Teacher at Brighter Futures Microschool! π¨π
Meet Ms. Susan β a Texas-certified All-Level Art teacher (PK-12) with 22 years of experience and three degrees, including a Master of Fine Arts from Texas Woman's University. She has taught in Fine Art charters, Arlington, Grand Prairie, and Mansfield ISDs, Northstar School, at the college level, and in private lessons. She is also certified in Gifted and Talented education and has specialized experience in SPED Partners in Art.
But what makes Ms. Susan truly special goes beyond her credentials.
Her young adult son was diagnosed with classic level 2 autism at age 2Β½. He has borderline IDD and β like so many of our students β has extraordinary strengths in music and art. That personal experience shapes everything about how she approaches her work. She knows firsthand that with repeated exposure, patience, and the right environment, children can discover a love for art they never knew they had.
Ms. Susan believes that art is an important form of self-expression that anyone can engage in β at any ability level. Her goal is to meet every child where they are, connect with their individual interests and strengths, and help them grow holistically through hands-on creation.
Outside of school she creates her own art, visits art museums, reads, swims, cooks, and gardens. She shares her home with her husband David, their adult sons Alex and Ian, and their dog Molly.
We are beyond grateful to have her as part of this team. Our students are in wonderful, experienced, and deeply understanding hands.
