Hello friends!!

I have posted the first round of events for the period of September 15th - December 22nd. Check out the events section on the Bumblebee ABC’s page.

With a stout command from God, I took the giant step to finally go for my dream. This Bumble Bee ABC’s became a real and tangible organization. Then the fear kicked in - holy cow what have I done??? Then God said focus. Focus on what Bumble Bee ABC’s means to me. Focus on what Bumble Bee ABC’s would mean to the families. Define it. Write it. Own it. Who am I to say no to our God??

Ultimately I want to own a home in which I can teach life skills - cooking, laundry, cleaning their home, how to change sheets. The home will have administrative offices a library and a den area. Kids can do their laundry and iron while cooking a communal meal. At the end of the day we’d gather with families and friends to watch a movie or play games.

I want a staff of as many as possible with vans to support the need going on field trips.

I want to reserve Michael’s party room once a month for a special needs craft day opening it to all special needs kiddos not just those on my care. It’s not fair Michael’s has a standard blue print of summer and weekend craft camps without consideration of the “special” in this population. In the end I want to champion our kids to the world.

I want to have volunteers teach classes on photography and scrapbooking so my kids can keep memories of their time with their peers. Showing the fun not a grade.

I don’t want to be a daycare. I don’t want to be a rigid taskmaster demanding education and excellence.

I want the middle. Those families making enough to not qualify for government assistance yet not wealthy enough to pay the outrageous fees of “good programs”. I want those kids that have the abilities to live with a group or perhaps on their own. Those that have aged out of traditional daycare or Y camps but can’t be alone.

I want my kids to look forward to seeing me. Their families to breathe, nap and have the security knowing their child is safe and well cared for. I want to help my kids to have a firm foundation on which they can build a life just right for them.

Okay - let’s get started!!!

My goal...
Traditional education is important but socialization on their terms is just as important. I hope the kids experience the world in a protective bubble (me) seeing the sameness in each member, not feeling excluded while giving families a break with reasonable fees!
