A little summer reminder for parentsā¦
Start a note on your phone and jot down the things your child does well this summer.
Not the big milestones (those are good too!), but the little things. Maybe they tried a new food. Maybe they made a new friend at the park. Maybe they finally started reading for fun. Maybe they used a coping strategy without being prompted. Maybe they spoke up for themselves in a way they couldnāt a year ago.
As parents, we tend to remember the struggles because theyāre the things weāre trying to help with every day. But growth can be easy to forget by the time school starts back up.
One thing I love hearing in ARD meetings is all the progress a child has made outside of school. Those moments matter too.
So celebrate the wins, write them down, and donāt underestimate the progress your child is makingāeven if it looks different from someone elseās.
Whatās been a win for your child so far this summer?
