The Santa Cruz COE Career and Adult Learning Services Department is hiring a Medical Assisting Instructor!

The Medical Assisting program is a 10-month course teaching the necessary skills and knowledge needed to perform the duties of a medical assistant. The Instructor develops and implements lessons to teach skills required for students to master medical assisting career competencies.

Parents, guardians and youth are invited to pick up free doses of naloxone (Narcan), a life-saving tool that can reverse an overdose from opioids including fentanyl.

This free, drive-thru distribution clinic is scheduled for 12-4 p.m. April 22 at Cabrillo College in Parking Lot R. Attendees can also receive information about how to talk to youth about opioids and other drugs and get connected with local resources.

🗓️ We are one month away from our annual Latino Role Model Conference. Last year we had the honor to host legendary labor leader and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta as our Keynote Speaker. During the conference, Dolores Huerta shared her journey and life experiences with our youth.

🏆The goal of this event is to create access to Latino Professionals for our students and their families. The very first LRM was hosted at Branciforte Middle School, 13 years ago, but the attendance quickly outgrew the space and Senderos had to move the event to Harbor High School. LRM was presented at Harbor High for a few years but then was moved to Cabrillo College. Having much more space and support, Senderos has been able to welcome 400+ families and students every year. 📈

🗣️During this event we are able to host students from all over the County. Parents are also able to ask questions and students are able to connect to Latino professionals.

This year we have the privilege to have another amazing woman as our Keynote Speaker— Olga Talamante the Executive Director Emerita of the Chicana Latina Foundation (CLF).

We invite you all to attend this event and to share it with your community. This year LRM will take place on March 25th, 2023 at Cabrillo College, Crocker Theater from 9am-1pm. Come hear about the stories of these outstanding Latino Role Models and learn about current college students’ journey!
