Kicking Off a New Year of CTE Collaboration!

MDCP was proud to host the first Governing Board Meeting of the 2026–2027 academic year, bringing together regional Superintendents and CTE Coordinators to connect, collaborate, and look ahead at the opportunities shaping Career Technical Education.

A key focus of the conversation was the continued growth of Work-Based Learning (WBL) and how we can expand meaningful opportunities for students to connect classroom learning with real-world careers. Through stronger partnerships, shared strategies, and regional collaboration, we’re working to create more opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience, build professional skills, engage with industry, and explore pathways to their futures.

We’re excited for what’s ahead this academic year and grateful to the educational leaders who continue to champion innovative, career-connected learning throughout our region.

Today, we celebrate the creativity, skill, and storytelling behind every great photograph—and the High Desert students learning how to turn that creativity into a future career.

Across multiple high schools throughout our region, students participating in Career Technical Education (CTE) programs are gaining hands-on experience in photography, digital media, visual communications, and related creative fields. From learning camera techniques and composition to editing and producing professional-quality work, these students are developing valuable technical and creative skills that can prepare them for college and careers.

World Photography Day is a great opportunity to recognize the talented students capturing the world through their own unique perspectives—and the dedicated CTE educators helping them transform their passion and creativity into real-world skills and future possibilities. 📷✨

Today, we celebrate the innovation, careers, and possibilities that keep aviation soaring—and the opportunities being created for students right here in the High Desert.

Victor Valley High School is helping students turn an interest in aviation into a pathway for their future. Students can explore aviation education, gain valuable hands-on experience, and discover how the skills they develop today can lead to college, certifications, and in-demand careers in the aviation industry.

A big thank you to Mitsubishi Cement for hosting a two-week Teacher Externship for our Automotive CTE instructor from Adelanto HS!
During the externship, our educator has been gaining hands-on experience in diesel mechanics, welding, and the many processes that drive the manufacturing industry. Opportunities like these help teachers bring current industry knowledge and real-world skills back to the classroom, creating even stronger learning experiences for students.

Automotive Teacher Externship Experience!
Today, Automotive teachers from Adelanto HS, Apple Valley HS, and Hesperia HS partnered with Victorville Motors for an engaging professional learning experience focused on the Service Department.
During the externship, teachers gained valuable insight into current industry trends, evolving technologies, and the day-to-day processes of the automotive service industry. This hands-on experience helps educators better understand the skills and knowledge students need to succeed in today's automotive careers.
The visit also provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen partnerships with local industry leaders and explore future work-based learning opportunities for students.

These talented student filmmakers took on the challenge of telling the story of “10 Years of Impact” and delivered in powerful, creative ways. Through compelling storytelling and striking visuals, they captured how MDCP and CTE programs have transformed students, schools, and our community over the past decade.
