I currently have 5 weekday openings in Apache Junction and East Mesa to support your child's learning in reading, writing, and math.

Many families prefer in-home tutoring to reduce transitions and help their child keep up with curriculum expectations.

If your family doesn't have a homeschool curriculum, OR you simply like extra support with supplemental learning, I plan, prepare, and provide tutoring using resources I have put together.

I can do this in a few steps:

1. FREE parent consultation! This is the time to listen to your concerns, learn the expectations for your child and tutor, and determine if we would be a good fit.

2. Assess your child. The first session is to get to know your child personally and academically. Building a relationship is key during this initial session.

3. Provide you with academic areas of need and targeted goals to measure growth.

As a parent of teens, I get it!

Keeping learning on track, on top of life's daily demands, can feel nearly impossible.

When it comes to Executive Functioning (EF) skills, it is not uncommon for teens to struggle. As parents, we often step in as their "frontal lobes", helping them plan, prioritize, organize, and get things done. Let's be honest... it often turns into nagging, even if our intentions are to support and teach.

The truth is, our teens may just need more time to process, a visual cue, or a neutral reminder.

So the question is: Are we helping, or hindering their independence?

A few quick tips when working with your teen;

1. Use of checklists and or timers
2. Explain the why, give them purpose
3. Find out their learning style and motivators

Bonus tip: Every action has a natural consequence. When explaining the "why", offer both the positive and negative outcomes. Let them choose and learn.

My name is Kristina, and I have been in the field of education for 24 years. I have worked in K-12 schools during this time and have recently moved away from the corporate world to learn and explore the other side of education. I appreciate school choice, as I have 2 children of my own. Finding a place where they can thrive in the last 3-4 years they have in school is important to me.
