"TURN MY EYES AWAY FROM WORTHLESS THINGS; PRESERVE MY LIFE ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD." — Psalm 119:37 (NIV)

We live in an era of aggressive, constant noise. From the moment we wake up and check our phones, our eyes are bombarded with notifications, social media feeds, advertisements, and comparison traps. Every screen promises a temporary hit of satisfaction, yet so often leaves our souls feeling cluttered, anxious, and strangely empty.

It easy to get distracted by worthless things in this world. They can pull you away from spending time in God’s Word or time in prayer. They can keep you from being the witness you are supposed to be. Being a witness can be found in words and in actions, but if you are focused on self and things of this world…worthless things, you will not do what needs to be done.

As you go through this life, train your eyes to focus on what is really important and of high value. The greatest value in this world is your soul and the souls of every person on this planet. Your soul and every other person’s soul, needs to be focused on God and controlled by God, serving God.

Where are your eyes focused today? Are they on the worthless, temporary things of this world?
Or on the eternal things of God? Let us pray today that we will focus our eyes on the things God focuses on; that we will turn our eyes from worthless things; that we will focus on God’s Word; and that God will strengthen us to keep our eyes on Him.

“MAY INTEGRITY AND UPRIGHTNESS PROTECT ME, BECAUSE MY HOPE, LORD, IS IN YOU.” — Psalm 25:21

In a world that often rewards shortcuts and compromise, King David’s prayer offers a different strategy for life: our character is our best shield, and our patience is our greatest power. David does not ask for flashy armor or a sudden escape from his troubles. Instead, he asks God to let his internal honesty and devotion preserve him while he waits for God to move.

David asks for two specific traits to guard his life: INTEGRITY and UPRIGHTNESS. Think of them as a ship's compass and sails. When you navigate rough waters or sudden life storms, your internal compass keeps you on the right path, while your sails push you forward toward God's promises

David also reminds us that integrity is sustained by hope. When your hope is firmly anchored in the Lord, you don't need to cheat or compromise to get ahead. You can afford to wait, knowing that God honors those who walk in truth and will deliver them in His perfect timing.

Are there areas in your life right now where you are tempted to compromise your values just to get a quick result or avoid a difficult situation? If you are in a season of waiting, treat it as a training ground for your character. Let your waiting be active, marked by choosing honesty and faithfulness today.

“I SOUGHT THE LORD, AND HE ANSWERED ME; HE DELIVERED ME FROM ALL MY FEARS.” — Psalm 34:4

FEAR is a loud, persuasive liar. It tries to convince you that you are completely on your own, that the worst-case scenario is inevitable, and that God has tuned out your cries. But Psalm 34:4 provides a reliable emergency plan for moments when anxiety begins to grip your heart.

"SEEK THE LORD." When anxiety strikes, our natural reflex is often to seek explanations, control, or other people's validation. Seeking the Lord means intentionally shifting your gaze away from the size of your problem and onto the magnitude of your Creator. It is an act of turning a blind panic into a focused prayer.

God doesn't always instantly remove the external storm, but He promises to sn**ch you out of the paralyzing grip of the fear itself. He replaces the dread in your chest with a peace that defies logic. You don't have to clean up your thoughts or pretend to be brave before you approach God. Go to Him with your fears exactly as they are. He is listening, He is close, and He is entirely ready to answer.

"NOW FAITH IS BEING SURE OF THINGS HOPED FOR, AND CERTAIN OF THINGS NOT SEEN." — Hebrews 11:1

We live in a world that tells us to believe only what we can see, touch, and prove. Our natural human instinct is to rely completely on our sensory perception and current emotional state. And it is easy to have strong faith when life is smooth, bills are paid, and our families are healthy.

Faith does not mean ignoring reality or wishing away problems. It means looking past our current, temporary circumstances and anchoring our eyes to the unchanging character of God. You might not see how a broken relationship will mend, how a financial deficit will clear, or how a difficult season will end. However, faith gives you the ability to move forward because you know the One who promised to walk with you is utterly trustworthy.

Living by faith means choosing to believe God first, and then watching His faithfulness unfold in His perfect timing. It bridges the gap between what is currently visible and what is eternally true.

IN HIM WE HAVE REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD, THE FORGIVENESS OF OUR TRESPASSES, ACCORDING TO THE RICHES OF HIS GRACE. Ephesians 1:7

We often tend to view ourselves with a perfectionist lens. Thankfully, the Lord doesn’t look at us the way we do. He sees you as His beloved child, robed in His righteousness and grace. When the blood of His son was shed for us on the cross, God knew very well what He was doing. He knew every mistake we would ever make in the future before dying for us, and He still chose to go to the cross.

When we sin and fall short, He is not surprised. Because Jesus paid it all, we can rest easy in the assuredness of His forgiveness. You never have to feel shy about going to Him for anything. Whenever you feel the judgment of perfectionism gnawing at you, take it to the Lord where He will wash it away in His loving presence.

The only explanation for this is His incredible love. By shedding His blood on the cross, Jesus paid the ultimate price to rescue us from the eternal grip of sin and death.

The next time you look at yourself in the mirror, try to see yourself the way God sees you–clothed in perfect righteousness, embellished in His perfect approval.

“… THE ONE WHO IS IN YOU IS GREATER THAN THE ONE WHO IS IN THE WORLD."
1 John 4:4

The world is full of uncertainty and difficulties. We do not know what each day might bring.

But God tells us that it is His desire that we trust Him no matter what may come at us. In the face of great pain and suffering, we may question God and wonder how He can possibly expect us to trust Him or trust that He is truly a good God.

But here’s the deal - God promises that He will see us through it. He is with us, for us and abiding in us. He tells us that while the things the enemy throws in our path can be overwhelming and horribly difficult, He is stronger and greater than the enemy.

The Apostle John offers us a profound reset button: our confidence should never be based on our own limited strength or circumstances, but entirely on the One who lives inside us.

Remember: No matter what you’re facing today, you are not outmatched. God’s Spirit within you is greater than any fear, pressure, or obstacle in the world.

YOU ARE GOOD, AND WHAT YOU DO IS GOOD; TEACH ME YOUR DECREES.
Psalm 119:68

God’s character is pure goodness, and because of this, every action He takes—even in seasons of hardship—is rooted in His perfect love. His goodness is not something He simply demonstrates; it is who He is. Because His essence is good, everything He does is also good. This means we can trust Him with our circumstances, even the ones we do not fully understand.

George Müller was a 19th century evangelist who cared for thousands of orphans. When his beloved wife of 39 years passed away, he stood up at her funeral and preached a message based on Psalm 119:68. His three points of reflection in the face of immense grief were:

1. The Lord was good, and did good, in giving her to him.
2. The Lord was good, and did good, in leaving her to him for so long.
3. The Lord was good, and did good, in taking her from him.

Müller’s story challenges us to align our hearts with the second half of the verse: "...teach me your decrees." When we don't understand God's plans, the best response is to ask Him to teach us His ways. His decrees—His laws, teachings, and will—are the guidelines He provides to lead us into a peaceful, purposeful life.

SO WE MAKE IT OUR GOAL TO PLEASE HIM, WHETHER WE ARE AT HOME IN THE BODY OR AWAY FROM IT.
2 Corinthians 5:9

Paul’s motivation is grounded in the reality that our time on earth is temporary. Every choice we make matters because of what comes next. We are called to invest our time, talents, and love into things that have eternal value.

If you are like most people, seeking admiration of their neighbors, coworkers and family members, the eagerness to please others should not overshadow your eagerness to please God. In every aspect of your life, pleasing the Heavenly Father should come first. Kay Arthur said, "When we are set free from the bo***ge of pleasing others, when we are free from currying others' favor and approval- then no one will be able to make us miserable or dissatisfied. And then, if we know we have pleased God, contentment will be our consolation."

Consider your daily routine—your work, your relationships, and the way you spend your free time. Ask yourself: Whose approval am I chasing today?

Let this daily devotional anchor our perspective, reminding us to live for eternal rewards rather than temporary applause.
