1 John 4:4

The world is full of uncertainty and difficulties. We do not know what each day might bring.

But God tells us that it is His desire that we trust Him no matter what may come at us. In the face of great pain and suffering, we may question God and wonder how He can possibly expect us to trust Him or trust that He is truly a good God.

But here’s the deal - God promises that He will see us through it. He is with us, for us and abiding in us. He tells us that while the things the enemy throws in our path can be overwhelming and horribly difficult, He is stronger and greater than the enemy.

The Apostle John offers us a profound reset button: our confidence should never be based on our own limited strength or circumstances, but entirely on the One who lives inside us.

Remember: No matter what you’re facing today, you are not outmatched. God’s Spirit within you is greater than any fear, pressure, or obstacle in the world.

YOU ARE GOOD, AND WHAT YOU DO IS GOOD; TEACH ME YOUR DECREES.
Psalm 119:68

God’s character is pure goodness, and because of this, every action He takes—even in seasons of hardship—is rooted in His perfect love. His goodness is not something He simply demonstrates; it is who He is. Because His essence is good, everything He does is also good. This means we can trust Him with our circumstances, even the ones we do not fully understand.

George Müller was a 19th century evangelist who cared for thousands of orphans. When his beloved wife of 39 years passed away, he stood up at her funeral and preached a message based on Psalm 119:68. His three points of reflection in the face of immense grief were:

1. The Lord was good, and did good, in giving her to him.
2. The Lord was good, and did good, in leaving her to him for so long.
3. The Lord was good, and did good, in taking her from him.

Müller’s story challenges us to align our hearts with the second half of the verse: "...teach me your decrees." When we don't understand God's plans, the best response is to ask Him to teach us His ways. His decrees—His laws, teachings, and will—are the guidelines He provides to lead us into a peaceful, purposeful life.

2 Corinthians 5:9

Paul’s motivation is grounded in the reality that our time on earth is temporary. Every choice we make matters because of what comes next. We are called to invest our time, talents, and love into things that have eternal value.

If you are like most people, seeking admiration of their neighbors, coworkers and family members, the eagerness to please others should not overshadow your eagerness to please God. In every aspect of your life, pleasing the Heavenly Father should come first. Kay Arthur said, "When we are set free from the bo***ge of pleasing others, when we are free from currying others' favor and approval- then no one will be able to make us miserable or dissatisfied. And then, if we know we have pleased God, contentment will be our consolation."

Consider your daily routine—your work, your relationships, and the way you spend your free time. Ask yourself: Whose approval am I chasing today?

Let this daily devotional anchor our perspective, reminding us to live for eternal rewards rather than temporary applause.

IN THE SHADOW OF YOUR WINGS I WILL TAKE REFUGE, TILL THE STORMS OF DESTRUCTION PASS BY. Psalm 57:1b

We've all been there: perhaps it is deep sorrow that follows the death of someone we love; maybe it's the fear of an unknown future; or it could be an oppressive physical illness that won't go away.

"I will take refuge." It is a conscious decision to run to God, trusting Him to be your protection—like a mother hen shielding her chicks. Even when life feels dark and chaotic, you can make God’s presence your refuge. But in such circumstances, God does not always remove the difficulty but He is present to help us. It is then that we have to take refuge in God as David did.

Taking refuge in God and under God’s protective wings is a reflection of our trust in who God says He is. David is glorifying God by reflecting the truth and beauty of God as a faithful and trustworthy God who will protect and defend those who put their faith in Him.

What are your storms in life? Are you willing to be gathered under the wings of God? Or when you face trials and difficulties, are you afraid of losing control such that you manipulate and arm twist your way to a positive outcome for you? Whatever your natural tendencies are, God is asking us to be willing to take refuge under His wings because He is our shield and our protector.

"DO NOT BE AFRAID OR DISCOURAGED, FOR THE LORD WILL PERSONALLY GO AHEAD BEFORE YOU. HE WILL BE WITH YOU; HE WILL NEITHER FAIL YOU NOR ABANDON YOU." Deuteronomy 31:8

This is a powerful promise of God's presence, leadership, and protection. It assures that no matter the challenges or transitions, you are never alone or abandoned, allowing for fear to be replaced by confidence.

Even today, when we face life altering changes in our life, these same words that were once spoken to comfort people struggling with the changes they were facing, are the same words God is using to calm our fears and anxieties. It is always His intention for us to walk in His peace as we walk in Him.

Whatever storms God is using in our life, it’s for a reason. Sometimes it is to strengthen us or change us or deal with a flaw in us. Regardless of the reason for the time of suffering, His promise is that He will go through it with us and He will be with us in any and every circumstance; whether hard or easy. This verse is a declaration of His complete and total willingness to be involved in our life. God wants us to know Him and His heart.

He is a God of love and everything He allows or does is because of His love for us. He has no hidden agenda. God is with us and will always be with us every day of our life.

We've all been there: perhaps it is deep sorrow that follows the death of someone we love; maybe it's the fear of an unknown future; or it could be an oppressive physical illness that won't go away. David, the author doesn't just ask for safety; he actively chooses to "take refuge" in God.

Believing in God doesn’t make us immune to trouble. There were many instances in David’s life in which trouble pursued him, just like there are and will be times in our own lives when we need a place of safety, comfort, and help in our time of need.

When we run to God for help we find more than a hiding place. We find help, we find peace, and we find rest, because God’s presence changes everything. It changes fear to faith, anxiety to peace, discouragement to confidence, danger to safety. FAITH, PEACE, CONFIDENCE, and SAFETY – that is what is available to us when we hide in Him.

What "storms" are you facing today? Instead of trying to fix everything in your own power, take a moment to intentionally "hide" yourself in God’s presence, trusting that His wings are covering you. No matter what you are going through – storms, floods, you name it – you can always run to God. Hold that truth in your heart and you too will find a voice to sing with from the shadows.

THE LORD IS NEAR TO ALL WHO CALL ON HIM, TO ALL WHO CALL ON HIM IN TRUTH. Psalm 145:18

In a busy or difficult life, it is easy to feel that God is far away or too busy for personal requests. Psalm 145:18 corrects this, emphasizing that God is not just a distant Creator, but an active, near presence ready to listen. The center of this promise is calling on Him "in truth." This means approaching God with honesty, sincerity, and humility. It is taking off the mask and being authentic about your fears, sins, and needs.

The lowest standard that God requires of people is that they be able to open their hearts to Him. If man gives his true heart to God and says what is really within his heart to God, then God is willing to work in man; God does not want the twisted heart of man, but his pure and honest heart.

God likes us to speak the words of our true hearts to Him. In our association with friends, if we speak the words within our heart to them, it means that we have treated them as our true friends, and the same goes for our association with God. God hopes we can sincerely treat Him and truly rely on Him. When your heart is laid open, it can be moved by God.

The promise is simple: As you draw near to God with a sincere heart, He draws near to you.

YOU WILL SEEK ME AND FIND ME WHEN YOU SEEK ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART.
Jeremiah 29:13

Have you ever felt like you could not find God in your life? Sometimes we get so busy and the noise in our head gets so loud, we can’t feel or see Him anymore. The truth is, He has not left you and never will! He doesn’t expect perfection in this pursuit, but persistency. The effort and willingness of your heart to look for Him is what pleases Him!

Pushing through the distractions of life will also force your mind into focusing on Him. This is a challenge that ultimately brings blessings…your end success is indisputable: He will be found by you! The more you seek Him, the more you will find Him. The more you find Him, the more you will love Him.

God promises to be found by us. It is not a fruitless search; rather, it is a guarantee of finding His presence. He does not require perfect performance in this pursuit, but rather consistency and sincere desire. Seeking with "all your heart" means focusing your attention, mind, and affections on God rather than doing it half-heartedly.

Despite whatever distractions you face today, remind yourself of Him and His love as you press through. Whether you feel a change or not, every time you focus on Him will bring you one step closer to finding Him.

YOU HAVE SEARCHED ME, LORD, AND YOU KNOW ME. YOU KNOW WHEN I SIT AND WHEN I RISE; YOU PERCEIVE MY THOUGHTS FROM AFAR. Psalm 139:1-2

Is it not a comfort that God knows our inner lives, actions, and thoughts fully—before we speak—yet loves us completely, providing security, preventing loneliness, and offering guidance?

God does not just know about you; He knows you completely. The "searching" in verse 1 indicates a thorough understanding, not a casual glance. Every action, from resting to working, is observed and understood. Even the thoughts you haven’t fully formed or the words you haven't spoken are known to Him before they exist. This includes your fears, hopes, and secrets, meaning you never have to fully explain yourself to God; He understands.

While it might seem intimidating to be completely exposed, this truth is comforting because the God who knows your deepest, hidden parts loves you perfectly and never leaves you. No matter where you go or how lonely you feel, this passage assures you that you are never truly alone. God is always present and intimately acquainted with your ways.

Take a moment to let go of the pressure to be perfect in front of people, recognizing that God already knows all your faults yet loves you still. Since nothing is hidden, approach God with honesty and sincerity, letting Him search your heart for your good.
