Dear Consul General Kishimori, It is an honor to receive your Consul General Commendation. On behalf of the Great Lakes Taiko Center, thank you so very much!
Great Lakes
We also want to thank all of our Taiko Center members over the years (including our performers, teachers, and students), our family and friends and community partners who always support us, and everyone in our audiences and broader community who join us to make the experience of Taiko together possible.
Taiko is truly a gift to community in many ways, giving us opportunities to make cultural connections with each other... whether you are thrilled by the heartbeats of a Kumidaiko ensemble drumming performance, blessed with good luck by a bite on the head during a Shishimai Japanese lion dance, or given a pair of Bachi sticks to play on a Taiko drum. Our members at the Great Lakes Taiko Center (GLTC) Taiko Arts Collective look forward to joyfully Drum Dance & Dream with you all in the years to come!
// Eileen S. Ho & Larry An, GLTC co-directors and collective members, with gratitude for GLTC co-founders (2009) Brian Sole and Mayumi Sole.
