🎉 Hey Ankeny Class of 2000! 🎉
Can you believe it’s been 25 years since we graduated?! Time really flies when you’re busy adulting. 😅

How about a little low-key reunion this fall? Nothing fancy, just a fun chance to reconnect, catch up, and share some laughs? Maybe meet up at Firetrucker Brewery for some beverages and memories?

This article about the eclipse science class reunion is so sweet: A teacher re-united as many of his former pupils as he could find so they could all watch the eclipse together. He promised them back in the 70s that they could gather again to view it.

I'm sure we had some nice teachers like this who would have done it for us at Ankeny!

“When teachers go into education, they hope that they can be that kind of teacher that would have an impact on people and make a difference for people,” Moriarty, 68, told The Washington Post. “And this event right here just firmed it up for me that I guess I did okay.”

Decades ago, Patrick Moriarty told his New York science classes that they would watch the 2024 solar eclipse together. He fulfilled that promise on Monday.

Hello Fellow Ankeny 2000 Grads!

I will be a new Admin to the handful for a bit, just posting on Wednesdays. I did not make it to the reunion, but am still interested in how everyone is doing. I will be posting some interactive quizzes, questions, or response to prompts on my Wednesday slot time 😜.

Please share an invite to all 2000 Ankeny Grads or attendees that are not in the group so we can get an update from as many as possible.

It was so great to see all of you last Saturday! Some people flew in from Washington DC, Seattle, and Dallas. Thank you so much for making the trip back. 😁

Things I learned about people from our class:

We do have classmates currently living abroad - Mark Fuchtman!

I still can't tell Meredith and Michelle apart but other people can. 🧐🧐🧐

We have classmates who are 5th generation farmers, doctors, pharmacists, advising military generals, driving Maseratis, running their own companies, but still, most importantly, are the people reaching out to others to fostering friendships and growth after all of our time apart. Jobs change, but friendships and kindness last forever.

It felt as though our class has become kinder, nicer and more accepting with age. The old cliques washed away and we made new friends. Everyone departed with plans to stay in better touch for next time.

A general thought was that we should have a 25 year reunion and a 30 year reunion and to keep it on the Summerfest weekend to make it easy for anyone in the class to know + remember that timeframe. While new people will plan and organize these next events, keep July 12, 2025 and July 13th, 2030 in your head for the next reunion. :)
