The Madison County Community Foundation has announced their 2027 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Endowment Finalists. Among them are two students from Anderson High School: Blake Simmons and Hydee Hall. Congratulations Blake and Hydee!

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship (LECS) is one of Indiana's most prestigious scholarship opportunities. Administered locally by the Madison County Community Foundation as part of the statewide Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, two Madison County students are selected each year to receive this award.

Recipients receive full tuition for up to eight semesters, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $900 annually for required books and equipment while pursuing a full-time bachelor's degree at an eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university.

The two recipients will be announced in December. As part of our commitment to recognizing exceptional students, each Madison County finalist who is not selected as a Lilly Endowment Community Scholar receives a $1,000 scholarship from the Madison County Community Foundation.

Third grade students in Mrs. Bigoss, Ms. Cooper, Mrs. Karcher, and Mrs. Smith's classrooms at Valley Grove Elementary School ended Unit 2 CKLA last week by researching animal habitats, writing informational paragraphs, creating dioramas, giving presentations to their classmates, and going on a Habitat Hike! How neat! What a wonderful experience for our students!

Congratulations to Highland Middle School student Zayne Tucker on being named the Minority Health Coalition of Madison County's Making a Difference Youth Award recipient!

At just 13 years old, Zayne already demonstrates strong leadership and character. An honors student at Highland Middle School, he has held student leadership roles throughout middle school, including class president, class representative, and vice president. He is also a student-athlete who participates in football and plans to try out for basketball.

Zayne is described by those around him as responsible, honest, hardworking, and kind. His teacher shared that he is someone who can be counted on to make good choices, help others, and represent his school in a positive way.

His mother says it best: “Zayne always displays a positive attitude while being a leader and allowing himself to be led when need be.”

We are proud to recognize Zayne for his leadership, character, and positive impact on those around him. Keep making a difference, Zayne! 👏🏽

It has been a busy day at Anderson High School for the Minority Health Coalition of Madison County (MHCMC)! First, they helped to administer the Youth To***co Survey to students in 3, 2nd period classes. Then, they recognized Kamar’a Murphy as their inaugural Making A Difference Youth Award winner. Lastly, they had their VOICE group meeting. We are so thankful for the MHCMC’s partnership, support, and collaboration!

Anderson Elementary School held an Ice Cream Social a couple of weeks ago! Students and their families were able to meet with grade levels, office staff, and reading interventionists. Parents and guardians learned about volunteer and engagement opportunities at the school. There were also a variety of community partners and a Story Walk outside that led to the playground where everyone enjoyed their ice cream. What a great event!
