Leather from fish skins is an age-old craft historically used by many coastal cultures, now revived with contemporary tanning and dyeing methods.

In Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, water-resistant salmon leather is still used for bags, clothing and accessories, as part of traditional culture.

Native Icelanders made their shoes from wolf fish leather, and reportedly measured distances by how many pairs of shoes would be worn out walking over the path! It was like an early form of Gore-Tex.

The AGAVE barrette is made from the waste leather cutting process, we only had a few small pieces to work with, so the end result was a limited edition of this eye-catching accessory.

Leather cutting waste is generally high in these industries, despite all attempts to optimally divide the existing material, taking into account that the larger the areas to work, the more waste there will be.

We can give this “waste” leather a second chance.. Would you like to use repurpose accessories and give them a second life?
