s More is a Hillsdale-supported founding effort, selected after a highly competitive application process. In 2023, a small group of Alaskans initiated discussions with Hillsdale College's K–12 Education Office about bringing the Hillsdale American classical curriculum to Anchorage. After thoroughly evaluating the curriculum and program guide, the group submitted a business plan and application to Hillsdale, ultimately being invited to receive Hillsdale support with startup counsel and training from the K–12 Education Office. Thomas More intends to license Hillsdale’s K–12 Curriculum and offer an American classical and Christian education to families in Anchorage, Alaska.

First day is in the books! Our families are amazing! Our faculty showed up in a big way - they pursued excellence even on day 1. These founding families and faculty are doing a thing in Alaska that has never been done: implementing Hillsdale College K-12 Education American Classical Education. Our very first Morning Assembly was one for the records - the scholars did so well! To have such a strong founding with as many scholars as we have is a truly good reason to praise the Lord.

There is no replacement for developing grit - tug-o-war is a great way to practice it physically.

In the classroom the tug may be inching toward the solution to a math problem, grinding out a science lab, or even pushing through a tough recitation. Grit is mental. It is physical. It is in the soul. And it can be developed.

What does whole-class instruction mean?

It's all the students getting all the attention.
It's multi-sensory.
It's purposeful.
It's teachers knowing each student so they know how to challenge and encourage.
It's songs and chants and questions and discussions.

If we ask - what should your child know at the end of their education, then we should be prepared to teach - to engage in the productive struggle that is learning and convey knowledge to all the students.

Whole-class instruction is not:
- project based.
- centers or pods based.
- group work heavy.
- packets of worksheets and hours on a tablet.
