Beginning on 11 Oct 2018, the Cadets from the University of Alaska conducted their fall semester field training exercise at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in order to train as one whole program on basic skills like land navigation, squad tactics, and platoon tactics. In "Part 1" of this three part series, we see Cadets reuniting with friends from past exercises (and meeting new ones), conducting rehearsals for squad/platoon tactics as a group, and receiving a refresher class on map reading/land navigation. The Cadets worked very hard on Day 1 and were eager for Day 2. Please stay tuned for Part 2!

Over the past weeks, Cadets of the Seawolf Detachment have been preparing themselves for the Fall Field Training Exercise. In the most recent lab, Cadets learned how to read a map, plot points, and identify terrain features. In the upcoming Field Training Exercise, Cadets will be expected to perform these same tasks and navigate themselves to designated points both during the day and night! Stay tuned this week for more photos!

The Seawolves were very busy this morning with a 0630 ruck march in the rain followed by a squad tactics lab in the rain. If you look closely enough though, you can see that the fall weather didn't bother anyone. Great job today Seawolves!

This morning the Seawolf Detachment conducted a 4 mile ruck march in order to prepare themselves physically and mentally for the challenges of walking with a rucksack on their back. Many of the rucksacks this morning weighed between 35-45 lbs and some upwards of 50 lbs! The Seawolves completed the 4 miles within the 1 hour time limit in preparation for the esteemed 12 mile/3 hour ruck march standard. Great job Seawolves!

Today we welcomed new and returning Cadets to the Seawolf Army ROTC for Fall 2018! At this morning's welcome brief the MS4s (Seniors) spoke to the Cadets about what lies in store for them in the upcoming year. Cadets were also given the chance to introduce each other as a way to get to know each other better. Seawolves, good luck with the rest of your first week back!
