Good morning ASD families,

Due to weather and icy road conditions, all ASD schools will be closed today - Friday, September, 24. A decision to cancel after-school activities will be made no later than 12 p.m.

Please be safe in the inclement conditions.

Throughout the month of February, the Municipality of Anchorage will be conducting COVID-19 testing at select ASD sites. This COVID-19 PCR testing service is open to the public and free of charge.

Testing will be conducted by Visit Healthcare and testing trailers are located school the parking lot. Testing is NOT conducted inside schools.

ASD Families,

After many months of planning and hard work, some of our youngest students will begin to their transition back into classrooms on Jan. 19.

While a lot of progress has been made, we can't lose sight that we are on the one yard line of our first phase, but we aren't done. Getting students back in school and keeping ASD Symptom Free is truly a community effort.

During this long weekend, families should use this opportunity to familiarize themselves with our Home Screening Guidelines: https://asdk12.co/2XQFzK5. A good idea would be to put this on the fridge and to check it before sending your child to school each day.

Anchorage acting mayor issues emergency hunker down order Anchorage’s Acting Mayor Austin Quinn-Davidson has issued a modified form of the hunker down order that will go into effect on Tuesday and will remain in place until Jan. 1, 2021.

ASD cancels return to in-person learning The Anchorage School District will not resume in-person learning for some students on November 16 as previously announced earlier this month.

SEAC is looking for new members. The Anchorage Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) is a resource for students with disabilities, their families, the community, and the Anchorage School District. We are committed to sharing ideas, identifying concerns, raising community awareness, and advising the Anchorage School District. SEAC conducts meetings each month, usually on the second Thursday during the business day. All meetings for now will be held utilizing the Zoom online format and may resume in person later. The Anchorage School District will be hosting two Zoom Q&A Sessions next week to address the differences between ASD in School and ASD at Home’s Virtual Program. Families will have the opportunity during the sessions to ask questions and receive answers from ASD panelists. Please note that Zoom sessions only allow for 500 participants, so if you have questions specific to these different back to school options, please use the Zoom links for the sessions below (which are first-come, first-serve and will be live a half hour before the sessions begin). If you would like to simply watch the Q&A, you can watch them live on our YouTube Channel at their corresponding times. The links for YouTube will be posted once the sessions are live.
