It has been a great honor to once again work in the shadows of a John Hoover sculpture. The latest response to one of his works was the design / fabrication / installation of a “nest” barrier surround. Just over a year ago we were invited to submit a concept drawing for a solution to prevent further destruction of the bronze sculpture ‘Raven the Creator’ at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Our proposal was selected out of several submissions and we worked with Angie Demma of ANHC and Anna Hoover, John’s daughter, in the development and refinement of the solution. Today the Intrinsic team installed the 3 custom CNC plasma cut / rolled / powder coated barrier sections. Now the sun, moon, and stars can be reattached to Raven and he can have his way with them (without little punks trying to rip them from his appendages) Until next time - thank you Mr. Hoover for your work / vision / and storytelling - and the inspiration it brings.

More than a ‘kitschy vestige of times past’: The Spenard palm tree comes home Next week, the Spenard palm tree takes one step closer to becoming a permanent installation on the corner of Spenard Road and 30th Avenue.

TUF Planter Project : Initiated in 2020 with the desire to reintroduce street trees to downtown Anchorage.

We have had the pleasure of assisting in the revisioning of the old Paradise Inn site in Spenard. The owner of the site is trying to bring the Palm Tree back to its original site for all to enjoy and has set up a Gofundme fundraiser to assist in offsetting the 🌴 retrofit. Do the neighborly thing and keep our streetscapes alive.

Intrinsic Landscapes is seeking a passionate and talented designer/maker to join our multifaceted design/build practice. Those with education and experience in landscape architecture / architecture / industrial design / project management are preferred. We are looking for someone to assist with design project development ranging from spaces to objects. Skills required include proficiency with AutoCad / SketchUp / Adobe Suite (including other digital 3D modeling and rendering skills as well as physical model making and prototyping) The ideal candidate will enjoy the full gamut of design and construction and be comfortable performing 2d site plans in the studio / operating an excavator in the field / running a CNC plasma table in the shop / and planting a tree in the mud.
