Hello Orion Families,

A BIG thank you to all the parents and students that reached out with their kind words and stories about their student experience in the Art Program at Anchorage School District.

As we are getting closer to Spring Break, make a plan to make observational drawings. If you draw one or two a day you could have more than ten drawings by the time we return to school in mid-March. I like to pick one thing such as a tree, flowers or a landscape to draw at the same time every day of break. I set a timer for myself to draw, I draw for about 10 minutes, set a timer to keep yourself on track, and create a stack that we can look at after Spring Break.

On the last day of Spring Break review your drawings. How did your space change? Did the tree grow leaves? did the sky stay light longer? How did your drawing skills change? Remember we aren't trying for perfection; we are trying for improvement. Every time we use our Art Skills, we make our skills stronger. Most of all enjoy your time off! I hope you come back to class with wonderful stories!

Help me celebrate these students for having their artwork selected for display in the Youth in Art month long celebration.

Please plan on joining us at the opening of the student show on March 1st 6-9pm at the Anchorage Museum. Some artworks will be displayed at alternative site like the 5th Avenue mall, ASD Ed center, Loussac and Muldoon libraries.

The Art room is looking for 1-yard segments of fabric and needles. Cotton is preferred, but we will accept clean fabric of any type. Art will not accept untanned animal hind.
Keep creating!

Ms. Golden
