ELL Summer Muse Program 2018

Mark your calendars! Aug. 3, 2018. 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Join students from the Anchorage School District English Language Learner Summer Muse “Power of Our Voices” Program. During the summer students learned about the power of words and the use of metaphor and simile. The big ideas for the summer were ignited from the passion of young people’s “March for Our Lives,” held in Washington, DC. Students’ poetry and art pieces revealed themes that are important to their generation: gun rights/laws, freedom of speech, immigration, education, social media, Black Lives Matter, the Me Too Movement and bullying.

Join students at one of five poetry stations, where they will help you develop your inner poet. At 7pm, join us in the auditorium for a poetry reading, where we hope the community will share the poetry written at our stations.
