Spring has sprung and new choreography has BLOOMed! We were so thrilled to support and present seven choreographers' new works in Pulse presents: BLOOM, a choreographer showcase. The show was fantastic, the cast was a dream, and audiences brought wonderful energy. Thank you to everyone who came out to support local dance. 💝

Pulse presents: BLOOM, a choreographer showcase is THIS WEEKEND and we're so excited to showcase many new dances!
BLOOM resident artist Bethany Drier has been diligently at work with her cast, and shares insight into the development of her piece:
Alaskan Fever Dream features three original compositions created and played by Dr. Timothy Pickett, who is one of the most inspiring people in my life. Despite losing both of his kidneys in his early twenties, and struggling with cancer for over 20 years, he has dedicated his life to music, determined to share his gift with the world and give audiences a new experience. Timothy’s music inspired Alaskan Fever Dream, and I’m so grateful to be given the opportunity to both use his music, and work with my wonderful dancers.
On her creative approach:
Part 1, Winter Imagines Spring, started with a dream to perform on pointe. I wanted to give my fellow dancer, Naomi, and I a challenge, so in November we started choreographing and shaping what would soon turn into a three part dance.
Part 2, Northern Lights, was designed specifically for a young dancer named GGi. I saw her dance at auditions, and I knew I had to have her in my dance.
Part 3, Primal, was created to give beginner dancers an opportunity to perform and experience something new, and to give a couple more seasoned dancers another opportunity to perform.
Each piece was created to challenge my dancers in a way that they enjoy, and to give the audience an unusual experience. My main goal was to create joy for everyone involved - my dancers, the composer, and myself as a new choreographer.
