VBMA Members, you've got just over a month left to submit your application for the Simmons Education Fund's Business Aptitude Award! This award goes to a deserving veterinary student who has demonstrated exemplary business aptitude through their problem-solving and presentation of a real-world case study. The winning student will receive a scholarship of $35,000. There will also be an additional award of $15,000 to the second place winner and up to five $5000 merit awards for honorable mentions.

✨RL Spotlight!✨

Shelby is a 2027 DVM Candidate at Washington State University. She lives by the motto "learn something new every day". When she’s not diving into a textbook or sharpening her business skills, you can probably find her at the barn with her horse. She dreams of one day owning her own practice where strong leadership meets exceptional medicine. Her goal? Empowering clients through education and building a practice rooted in trust, connection, and lifelong learning.

Shelby's favorite VBMA memory is at National Meeting 2026. As the National Board and RL teams were bonding, they ended up running through the lazy river. Despite the chill, it was fun creating memories with everyone.

Some of Shelby's favorite hobbies include riding her horse (Fonzi), weightlifting, and she is constantly in the pursuit of a delicious, caffeinated beverage.

The team attended the Veterinary Leadership Experience (VLE) in Post Falls, Idaho in June of 2026. They will be using their team-building experiences from VLE as a foundation for their work together as a cohesive board! We can't wait to see what creative ideas they will bring to VBMA in 2027.

✨RL Spotlight!✨

Annmarie Raque is a member of the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2027 who grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences from Mississippi State University, where she was involved in research, Tri Delta Sorority, and agricultural writing for the student newspaper. Her interests in veterinary medicine include small animal general practice, dermatology, ophthalmology, exotic animal medicine, and shelter medicine, and she has held leadership roles such as President of the LSU VBMA chapter and LSU SVM Student Ambassador.

She is surrounded with an amazing support system of friends, family, and mentors that push her to achieve even the wildest of her dreams!

Outside of veterinary school, Annmarie enjoys running along the LSU lakes, listening to the hottest new house music, caring for her houseplants (that somehow keep multiplying...), traveling to new places, discovering new hiking trails, and spending time with her beloved bearded dragon and loyal sidekick, Taquito.

When it comes to killing ticks, faster is always better. One of our four active ingredients found in Credelio Quattro, lotilaner, was found to kill ticks* faster than† sarolaner in Simparica Trio® and afoxolaner in NexGard®.1 Fast protection for your dog, and peace of mind for you.

Indications: Credelio Quattro is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease and the treatment and control of roundworm, hookworm, and tapeworm infections. Credelio Quattro kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations and the treatment and control of tick infestations for 1 month in dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age and older and weighing 3.3 pounds or greater. Credelio Quattro is indicated for the prevention of Lyme disease infections as a direct result of killing black-legged ticks.

Important Safety Information: Lotilaner, an ingredient in Credelio Quattro, belongs to the isoxazoline class and has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions like tremors, incoordination, and seizures even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections before Credelio Quattro administration as it is not effective against adult heartworms. The safe use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. The most frequently reported adverse reactions in clinical trials were vomiting and diarrhea.
