This week, I had the pleasure of attending Sunkist and Edison Elementary Schools Back-to-School night celebrations. Both schools did a fantastic job welcoming our families and their students onto their campus and our teachers, like always, were rockstars! We have some AMAZING things taking place in AESD and I am personally super excited for our students at Edison and Sunkist. 📓✂️🍎✏️🚌🇺🇸💻📚

Wow! What an AMAZING first day of school for our students at Benito Juarez Elementary School, my Alma Mater. Students were greeted by Disney volunteers who showered them with tons of positive energy, excitement, and got them pumped up to return to school. They were later joined by Micky, Minnie, and the gang for a quick pep rally on the field. It was so cool!!!

I must confess, I completely reverted to being a kid again, especially when I saw my two favorite Disney characters, Pluto and Goofy, in attendance. It was so awesome and such a great experience for our students (and families because I ran into a lot of my old childhood friends whose children now attend Juarez and they too were just as excited about this event as their kiddos). Overall, I am so happy for our students and families and thankful to Disney for making this happen.

After experiencing this super cool event today, I'm already thinking about which one of our awesome schools we can host this event at next year. Go AESD!!! Go Juarez!!!

So I have had many people ask me if I would consider running for another term for AESD. After giving it a lot of thought over summer break, talking with my loved ones, specifically my mom who has ALWAYS been my #1 supporter, and doing a lot of praying, I have decided that yes, nothing would make me happier than serving as YOUR Trustee for the Anaheim Elementary School District, Area #5, for 4 more years.

Even my beloved sidekicks, Frida-weeda and Prince Vicente are on board. So this past Friday, I turned in my paperwork, took the oath, and am now an official candidate to continue serving as your board member for the next 4 years. So please, let's make this happen!!!

Please spread the word everyone and vote for me, Ryan A. Ruelas, this November, to be re-elected as your Trustee for the Anaheim Elementary School District, Area #5. We have done great things during my tenure but we still have a lot more things to get done to ensure our kiddos are receiving the best education possible!

So please vote for me and spread the word!!! Go AESD!!!

I had a fantastic time at Councilman Carlos Leon's 4th annual Back 2 School Bash. Every year, this event get larger and larger. Despite the heat, hundreds of families from AESD were there checking out all the great resources available. We in AESD are so thankful and proud of the partnership we have with our city, especially leaders like Councilman Leon. A special shout out to James Madison Elementary School for hosting this wonderful event. Go AESD! Go Anaheim!!! 🍎📚💻✏️🚌📓✂️

Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending a meet-and-greet at Edison Elementary School so our community could meet their new principal, Ms. Luna. It was a great event that many of our families attended. I firmly believe our families left this event excited about our new principal, ready to continue the strong collaborative relationship our former principal of Edison, Ms. Nicholas, worked so hard to establish during her tenure.

I am super excited for Ms. Luna and even more excited for our Eagle families and our scholars. Go Edison!!! Go AESD!!!

Yesterday, I had the privilege of watching AESD's Mariachi All Stars perform at the Community Schools Conference in Long Beach and they rocked it! Nothing fills me with more pride than getting the opportunity to brag about our talented scholars to educators throughout the United States. So proud of our students; they seriously were amazing!!! I had a fantastic time last night at the annual ACSA Administrators of the Year celebration. I am so proud of Principal Stephanie Shumate, the principal of Sunkist Elementary School, one of the 5 elementary schools in D5 that I proudly represent. This is a well deserved recognition for all the AMAZING things Principal Shumate does for our Sunkist scholars and our community. So proud! Congrats Principal Shumate!!! 🎉👏🏽🥳

Last week I attended, along with hundreds upon hundreds of our AMAZING students and families from AESD, the Music, Art, and Creativity Festival our district hosts annually at Pearson Park. It was a beautiful afternoon, the music coming from the amphitheater was fantastic, and I had a blast visiting with our families and old friends. I absolutely LOVE events like this that celebrate our community and the VAST amount of talent that is here in Anaheim. Go AESD!

Last Wednesday, I had such a blast at the Anaheim Elementary Succeeds soccer championship. This event was even more special to me because one of the schools fighting to be the champion was none other than Edison Elementary School, a school in D5 that I proudly represent. Edison played fantastic and in the end, ended up beating Patrick Henry, who also played well. Good times were had by all, especially all our students and families from the Edison community who came out to cheer on their fellow Eagles. Great job Edison!!!
