Another Celebration success! CJC members were honored to participate in Lyndeborough's American Revolutionary War Monument dedication on Saturday, August 15. Our Chaplain gave the opening prayer, our Regent paid tribute. We were grateful for the opportunity to make a financial donation and provide and place the wreath. A big thank you to the Town of Lyndeborough committee and residents who made the installation of the new monument a reality and planned such a wonderful and welcoming event.

August 2, 1776: John Hancock boldly signs the engrossed Declaration of Independence, followed by delegates signing in state order from New Hampshire to Georgia. New Hampshire’s Josiah Bartlett and William Whipple sign this day, while Matthew Thornton adds his name in November. Lets meet our Delegates!

Exciting local history news. Congratulations to the Hutchinson Family Homestead on receiving this much deserved recognition!

This week marked an exciting milestone for Milford history!
The Hutchinson Family Homestead on North River Road has officially been added to the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places.
This recognition was made possible through the dedication of volunteers from the Milford Historical Society, working in partnership with the property's owners, whose cooperation and commitment to preserving this important piece of Milford's heritage made the nomination possible.
The Hutchinson Family was one of Milford's most remarkable families. Beginning in the 1830s, the internationally acclaimed Hutchinson Family Singers used their music to champion abolition, women's rights, and other social reforms, carrying the name of Milford across the United States and beyond. Their family homestead remains a tangible connection to that extraordinary legacy.
The accompanying photograph, taken in the 1950s, offers a glimpse of the historic home that has now received well-deserved state recognition.
Congratulations and thanks to everyone whose hard work helped preserve this important chapter of Milford's history for future generations.

A family affair! Yesterday, First Vice Regent, Marsha, witnessed her sister's, Kim, signature on her DAR application with proud 5th great grandfather and patriot, Captain Henry Bodwell, Col Samuel Johnson, 11th Co, 4th Essex Regt, in attendance. I'm told a few "happy tears" were shed 🥹
