We’re continuing this week by announcing our first Scholarship Application Writing Lab of the semester! ✏️📓 Join us in the Global Education Advising Center (located at 70 Butterfield Terrace) from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, to work on your scholarship essays with OGA staff available for support.

We've had a successful first week—almost 200 students swiped into the Advising Center since we opened our doors on Tuesday, September 8! 🎒✏️

Prior to the start of the semester, our Peer Advisors had three intensive days of training to prepare for opening day. Now, they're fully prepped to advise any student in any major interested in any program abroad while sharing stories from their own experiences abroad.

From academics to accommodations, finances to flights, and entry requirements to everything else, our dedicated team of Peer Advisors are here to empower you to —stop by the Advising Center (located at 70 Butterfield Terrace) between 11:30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays throughout the fall semester.

The Global Education Advising Center (located at 70 Butterfield Terrace, next to Gorman Hall) will be open Monday–Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. throughout the fall 2026 semester.

Cost can be a huge factor in a successful study abroad adventure. By understanding costs upfront, you can explore funding options, make informed decisions, and pick a program that’s both exciting and financially sustainable—that’s why we’re launching a new social media series called . 💸

Every week, we’ll be exploring new ways to make study abroad affordable and accessible, because from Faculty-Led to Exchange or Partner programs, there's a study abroad experience for every UMass Amherst student.

➡️ This week's topic: the Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship, which awards up to $10,000 for academic year programs and $5,000 for semester programs. To apply, students must be undergraduate U.S. citizens, DACA recipients, or permanent residents who will study abroad on a UMass approved program of at least 4 weeks duration. Applications are due Tuesday, September 15.
