The IWU Writing Center

The IWU Writing Center Welcome to the IWU Writing Center! Located in the Ames Library, we offer help in formatting and edit We hope to see you soon!

Located conveniently on the first floor of Ames Library, we offer help in formatting and editing papers in all subject areas, including Gateway and Foreign Language courses. Our tutors are all students at Wesleyan, and come from a variety of majors. In many cases they've taken the same courses in which their clients are enrolled, and have tackled similar writing assignments. They've taken the time

to complete a non-credit, semester-long course in tutoring. Sign up for an appointment online (https://iwu.mywconline.com/) through your email or walk in anytime during our office hours. This is a great resource offered on the IWU campus to aid anyone in need of writing help.

The Illinois Wesleyan Writing Center is postponing all workshops and in person tutoring based on the recommendations and mandates put in place by the university and the government.

We WILL be offering online tutoring. The email sent to faculty and staff is as follows:

"Hi Colleagues!

Just a quick update to let y’all know the Writing Center at Illinois Wesleyan will be open online when we go remote the week of the 23rd.

We will continue to offer online tutoring through our scheduling platform WCOnline. I’ve [included photos of] a document that explains how to go about setting up and navigating an appointment. We will notconduct in person or asynchronous (meaning the student emails the paper and we edit it) appointments.

Please bear with me as I get the tutors prepped and ready; the website where they schedule appointments (WCOnline) will be up-to-date with tutor availability by next Wednesday (3/18). Also, in case any ask you, I will be consulting students with existing appointments so those students receive first priority.

Two additional things to know about our online tutoring: (1) the student receiving assistance MUST turn on their we**am so as to avoid any intellectual property/ plagiarism concerns (the reason we avoid asynchronous as well). (2) We do offer online tutoring for groups!

If you or your students have any questions as we navigate these changes, please let me know!

Thanks; best wishes that y’all stay well."
