Bishop Guilfoyle Academy

A transformed space for lives being transformed. ✨

This year, our chapel begins a new chapter as Saint Susanna Chapel — a beautifully renewed space where our students can pause, pray, reflect, and continue to grow in their faith.

The physical transformation of the chapel is remarkable, but its greatest purpose remains the transformation that happens within: moments of prayer, reflection, worship, and spiritual growth that help shape our students throughout their time at Bishop Guilfoyle Academy.

We are especially grateful to Dr. Matthew J. and Suzanne (Harf) Reilly, Class of 1958, whose generous gift made this transformation possible. We also extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed their time and talents to the project, including our students who had a hand in bringing the renewed space to life.

May Saint Susanna Chapel continue to be a place of peace, purpose, and spiritual growth for generations of BG students to come. 💜💛

Every role makes a difference. 💜💛

At Bishop Guilfoyle Academy, creating a great experience for our students takes an entire team — in our classrooms, throughout our campuses, and behind the scenes.

We are currently looking for caring, dependable people to join the BG community in several roles:
• Part-Time Evening Janitor — Eldorado Campus
• Teacher Aide — Hollidaysburg Campus
• Substitute Teachers — All Campuses

Whether you're looking for meaningful part-time work, a way to stay involved in education, or an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students, there may be a place for you at BG.

25 years later, we remember.

As part of that remembrance, Bishop Guilfoyle Academy students traveled to the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville to participate in the September 11 Observance Ceremony.

BG sophomore Bianca Melgar performed a vocal solo, and freshman Karma Lopez-Oakes opened the afternoon ceremony on violin.

It was a meaningful opportunity for our students to stand in a place of such profound significance, to reflect on the events of September 11, and to help carry forward the memory of those we lost.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Strong habits start early. 💪

This summer, students in grades 3–12 had the opportunity to stay active, build strength, and challenge themselves through Mr. Tressler’s Summer Workout Program.

From our youngest Marauders to our high school students, participants showed up ready to work, improve, and build the discipline, confidence, and consistency that carries far beyond the gym.

A big thank you to Mr. Tressler for giving our students a great way to stay moving, stay motivated, and keep growing all summer long.

Way to put in the work, Marauders! 💜💛

New school. New faces. A built-in support system from day one. 💜💛

Starting junior high is a big transition, and at BG, our younger students don’t have to navigate it alone.

Through BG’s Mentor Program, students are welcomed into the BG community with fun, interactive games and activities that help them meet new friends, get comfortable in their new surroundings, and build connections with older students.

And our mentors love it just as much! They take pride in being positive role models, sharing their experiences, and helping younger students feel welcomed, supported, and confident as they begin their journey at BG.

It’s more than an introduction to junior high — it’s the beginning of connections that make BG feel like home. 💜💛

It was wonderful to see our friend and welcome a prominent alum back to his second home at BG.

Former German exchange student Michael Schaefer and the Sanker family of Altoona became family by chance and friends by choice. As Bishop Guilfoyle’s first exchange student during the 1965-66 school year, Schaefer quickly became the eighth child in the Sanker family during his stay in America whil...
