In our little kids’ group we have been studying about our community. Today we took a field trip to the Alta Post Office. Ms. Krissy, our post master, was so kind to all the kids and explained how the postal system works. Thank you Ms. Krissy!

This week we learned about the true meaning behind St Patrick’s Day. The students made beautiful rainbows. They also got to make ink transfer art work and beautiful water color projects.

Our students have been working hard and we had a wonderful open house night. Our students got to show their families some of their work. Our third and fourth graders created missions and wrote research reports. Our kindergartners and first graders are working on their writing skills. Our second grader is working on math skills, writing skills, and learning how to be a good member of his community. I am proud of this group of kids and all the hard work that they doing!

The month of December has been a crazy one The last few weeks we’ve been learning about how other cultures celebrate Christmas. We also heard a recording from a lady who lived in Alta over a hundred years ago. The students got to hear how Christmas was in Alta around 1905.

We also have been making many holiday crafts. It’s been a busy month and we are ready for some well deserved time off!

This week we learned about veterans. We learned that they are heros who keep us safe. We made cards for our local veterans and we will be delivering them this week. We also made thankful trees. We listed the many things that we are thankful for.

This week we completed another art project. We talked about the color wheel and complementary colors. I love how their fall leaf water color paintings turned out!

Along with English, Math, History, and Science this week we did an art lesson. We learned about perspective and fall colors. We created paintings from the perspective of laying down in a fall forest and looking at the sky. I love how each kid made this project their own!
