Cheap guns. Cheap ammo. Expensive watches. 😂⌚

After wrapping up our August 28–29 Intro to Long Range class, Nick — — and I decided it was time to put the precision rifles away and make some BRRRRRRRRT.

Enter the Ta**us TX22 with an FRT.

This little thing is basically a miniature A-10. 😂

Suppressed. Unsuppressed. Daylight. After dark. Brass absolutely EVERYWHERE.

We even threw a Holosun on the back to add a little weight to the slide and tame things down a bit—and this thing just RAN.

The only malfunction we experienced was eventually running out of .22. 😂

There’s something hilariously satisfying about burning through cheap rimfire ammo while Nick has a Rolex Deepsea worth more than most of the guns on the firing line strapped to his wrist.

Sometimes the simplest guns produce the biggest smiles.

INTRO TO LONG RANGE | AUGUST 28–29 🎯

Another incredible class in the books!

20 students joined us from California, Utah, Arizona, Illinois, Colorado and Germany — and despite some wild rain rolling through during the day, conditions were fantastic with surprisingly mild wind.

And once again…

🎯 EVERY. SINGLE. STUDENT. hit the 1,000-yard Milk Jug.

20 students. 20 hits. Our 1,000-yard guarantee remains intact.

A few shooters wasted absolutely no time:

And then there was Francisco Santos, who became the only shooter of the class to complete the LRSU Milk Jug Slam by hitting all four jugs:

This is what progression looks like. 🎯

Stephen Starkey started where many of our students do—learning the fundamentals in our Intro to Long Range Shooting course, stretching his abilities to 1,000 yards and beyond, and discovering what he and his rifle were actually capable of.

Then he came back for Precision Rifle 201.

Now we take those same fundamentals and make everything harder.

No comfortable prone position. No perfectly stable bipod. Instead, we teach students to build positions from barricades, tripods and whatever else the environment gives them—to recognize their wobble zone, accept it, work within it, and execute the fundamentals without trying to force the rifle perfectly still.

For Stephen’s 1,000-yard Milk Jug Challenge, that meant:

📏 1,000 yards
🧎 Kneeling
🪢 Front support on a thin, unstable rope
🔺 Tripod rear support he’d only recently learned

And he got it done. 💥

That’s what makes these moments so rewarding.

You watch someone go from being a complete beginner, to hitting 1,000 yards, stretching out to a mile, and then eventually making that same 1,000-yard shot from an improvised field position that would have seemed impossible when they started.

The fundamentals don’t change. The challenge does.

The ultimate Rocky Mountain hunting rifle? 🏔️🎯

Adam Glascock from Arizona, a graduate of our Intro to Long Range Shooting course, came to us wanting something very specific: an ultra-lightweight 300 PRC hunting rifle built for the mountains—with absolutely no compromises.

I think we nailed it.

The foundation is the tried-and-true Lone Peak Fuzion action, paired with a 24” Proof Research carbon-fiber barrel chambered by Garrett at Preece Precision.

Then there’s that chassis. 🔥

Adam wanted something completely different from the standard carbon-fiber look, so Taylor at Taylor Tac Arms brought his vision to life with a custom Cerakote combination of desert topography and an arid interpretation of classic M81 camo on the MDT HNT26.

It turned out absolutely incredible.

And Adam’s LRSU story isn’t finished. He’ll be back in October with his wife to go through our Intro course again—this time helping her prepare for an upcoming hunt in Mexico. 🇲🇽

Lightweight. Powerful. Purpose-built for the mountains—and definitely one of the coolest hunting rifles we’ve put together.

Quiet confidence. BIG results. 🎯

Marcus from Utah isn’t the guy you’ll hear yelling across the firing line. He’s a gentle giant—quiet, confident, and an absolute pleasure to have in class.

But at our July 31–August 1 Precision Rifle 201 class, he made a pretty loud statement.

2,000-yard Milk Jug Challenge… Shot No. 3. 💥 Attempt 3 with the help of Youth Instructor Easton Baugh.

Marcus had already completed our Milk Jug Challenge Slam in a previous class by hitting the:

🎯 1,200-yard jug
🎯 1,500-yard jug
🎯 One Mile — 1,760 yards

There was just one left.

2,000 YARDS.

Third shot… IMPACT.

That officially completed Marcus’ Milk Jug Challenge GRAND SLAM and puts him in a group of only about a dozen shooters who have ever accomplished it. 🏆

Even cooler, Marcus started his journey by training with us, then had us help him put together the rifle he used to finish the job.

Ever wondered what it would sound and look like from the other end? 👀

Camera behind the target. 6.5 Creedmoor from roughly 400 yards.

If you watch closely, you can actually see the bullet wake coming straight toward the camera just before impact. 💥 Then we run it back in slow motion so you can see it again.

This was our first attempt at the Dead Man’s POV, and it definitely won’t be our last.

Credit where it’s due—my buddy Sawyer, , came up with this concept a few years ago and has taken it absolutely viral. We finally decided to give it a try ourselves.

There’s something wild about seeing—and hearing—a long-range shot from the receiving end.

That makes the payoff much stronger. I’d replace that placeholder section and tighten the caption slightly around those numbers:

ONE MILE. .50 BMG. And then… wait for the DING. 🔔💥

After wrapping up our Precision Rifle 201 class, our friend and periodic assistant instructor Jordan Baugh got behind the Steyr HS50 and sent a 750gr Hornady A-MAX at our 36” steel gong ONE MILE away.

Watch what happens when it hits.

After traveling 1,760 yards / 1,609 meters, that 750gr bullet is STILL moving at approximately 1,455 FPS and hits the plate with an incredible 3,526 FT-LBS OF ENERGY. 🤯

You can see that massive steel gong twist from the impact.

But one of my favorite parts happens next…

You see the hit.

Then we wait.

“Quiet, quiet, quiet…”

And finally…

🔔 DIIIIING.

Waiting for the sound to make the mile-long trip back to the firing line really puts the distance into perspective.

Jordan originally came down as chauffeur for his son Easton, one of our LRSU Youth Shooting Team members, but inevitably ends up helping us teach. 😂 As an accomplished PRS and rimfire competitor, he brings a wealth of knowledge to our classes—especially when it comes to positional shooting.

More importantly, Jordan is an exceptional human being and an incredible father. The relationship he’s built with Easton and the way he’s helped him develop as both a shooter and a young man is something I genuinely admire.

We’re lucky to have both of them as part of the LRSU family. 👊
