Colorado School of Mines, Society of Economic Geologists Student Chapter Welcome to The Colorado School of Mines (CSM) student chapter of the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG)

The SEG student chapter at the Colorado School of Mines was established on February 26th, 1987 as the first student chapter in the world. It is the mission of this organization to encourage among its members an increasing knowledge of geology and its application to minerals exploration and mining. The student chapter also provides a basis to link students interested in economic geology with professional geoscientists in industry, academia, and government. To achieve these goals, we organize weekly guest lectures, CSM student ‘rock talks’, short courses, social events, and both local and international field trips. The SEG provides significant annual financial support for its three core student-support programs: Graduate Student Fellowships, Student Research Grants, and Student Field Trips. SEG also supports our field trips, short courses, and regularly held guest lectures.
