Often what seems easy for us is not always easy for them. But we find ways to make it work!
Sometimes ypu can't get away with wearing big bulky headphones, especially if your part of the party.
At tonight's affair, the kids each wore noise canceling Bluetooth headphones. Azriel's was off while Ashira needed her comforting Playlist blasting onto of the loud music. All night she would signal to use to raise or lower the volume from the phone.
What we thought could never work and would be over stimulating turned out to be the right amount of controle that allowed her to feel safe in an unpredictable environment.

Every small win deserves to be recognized and celebrated. 💚 Sometimes the things that seem “small” are actually signs of huge developmental growth.

Body awareness, or interoception, is a foundational skill. It’s our ability to recognize and understand the signals coming from inside our bodies, things like hunger, thirst, needing the bathroom, feeling tired, or noticing when our bodies are becoming overwhelmed.

When those internal signals aren’t recognized, it can show up as difficulty focusing, changes in behavior, dysregulation, or difficulty completing a task. A child may know that something feels “off” without yet understanding what their body is trying to tell them.

Helping kids learn to notice those signals, understand what they mean, and communicate what they need supports regulation, self-advocacy, and ultimately their ability to access learning.

So yes, we celebrate the seemingly little wins.

Because sometimes “I can’t focus because I need to use the bathroom” represents YEARS of learning to understand your own body. 💚

It feels like just yesterday we were moving through the nonstop meltdowns, the hard moments, and the difficulty trully connecting.

And now he’s standing here at 12 years old, finding his voice and sharing his thoughts with the world! 💚

Sometimes I look at how far we’ve come and it still catches me off guard.

I seriously cannot believe Azriel is 12. 🥹
