Allen High School’s Aiden Savetman was the first runner-up in the Kids Teaching Kids® Recipe Book design competition, winning $250 for his STEAM Center graphic design classroom.

The recipe book is issued in conjunction with the Kids Teaching Kids “21-Day Challenge,” a program sponsored by Medical City Children’s Hospital to encourage healthier snack choices. Fifteen school districts across North Texas participated in the challenge.

The Kids Teaching Kids program educates and engages students in better nutrition. Registered dietitians work with high school culinary students to create a recipe book for elementary school students full of healthy, flavorful snacks featuring fruits and vegetables. Students also participate in a graphic design contest to develop the cookbook cover.

Congratulations Aiden!

The Allen ISD Board of Trustees is asking for community input on naming the field at Eagle Stadium. This process would only change the name of the field, and not the stadium itself. Nominations will be accepted now through May 10 at noon.

Submit your nomination now at https://forms.gle/yDrbUz15hmpvQtZd9, or send an email with an attached letter of support to [email protected].

Allen ISD’s practice has been to name facilities/schools after individuals related to Allen ISD and living in the area, however, the naming guidelines may include but are not limited to:
1. Living or deceased Allen residents who have made notable contributions to Allen ISD or the community of Allen;
2. Living or deceased U.S. citizens who have made important contributions to American society;
3. Geographic/neighborhood areas of interest.

Nomination letters should provide background information on the nominees that would be helpful to Board members considering the naming. In considering the nominations, detailed information about the nominee is more important to the Board of Trustees than the number of nominations submitted. If a number of people want to nominate the same person, the submission can be signed by more than one individual.
