For the second year, ALX Beyond is leading a cohort of network providers through the Weikart Center for Program Quality's Youth Program Quality Improvement (YPQI) process. Over the course of the academic year, participating providers assess data on their programming, develop improvement plans with their teams, and participate in professional learning opportunities to reach their goals.

Participating programs are addressing their improvement plans by participating in Youth Work Methods workshops with their cohort colleagues and team members at their organizations. Last week, the cohort convened at Charles Houston Recreation Center for a "Reframing Conflict" workshop. This workshop provides a six-step, youth-centered, nonthreatening way of resolving conflicts that occur in youth settings. It is a problem-solving approach that seeks to turn conflicts into learning opportunities.

We are grateful to our friends and partners in Richmond at NextUp for their partnership and facilitation of this spring's Youth Work Methods workshops!

Last week was Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week! A number of Alexandria's youth-serving professionals received statewide recognition for their exceptional commitment on the Virginia Partnership for Out-of-School Time (VPOST)'s page!
