It was so fun to ring in the holidays with our guests! Over 300 attendees enjoyed a festive atmosphere and the chance to try over 50 types of whisky, both Scotch and Bourbon this year. Our event mascot, Scottie, even made an appearance!

The event raised around $130,000! These funds support our mission to deliver exceptional educational and social development programs for children, teens, and adults in Alexandria. This past year, we served 2,493 community members, and the new funds will help us do it again in 2025.

As Alexandria’s 275th Birthday commemoration comes to a close, we invited our Wright to Read students to celebrate our city, neighborhoods, and the places that feel like home at our annual Readers Take the Stage. Over 120 people gathered at Lee Center in November to hear our WTR presenters share their “Travel Guides” that highlighted the spots, people and experiences that make our area a great place to be. Students’ favorites ranged from local restaurants like Silver Diner, Popeye’s and … to outdoor places like Chinquapin and Armistead Boothe Parks and soccer fields .alexandriava … to places for fun adventures like Cameron Run Water Park, Get Air Trampoline Park — even places of learning like William Ramsay Elementary and Beatley Central Library made the list! Thanks to who also captured videos of people sharing their special places and memories of Alexandria. A huge shout-out to all the students, tutors, and families who participated in the event!

All proceeds from the raffle will support Campagna Center’s educational and social development programs, which serve over 2,000 of Alexandria’s children and families every year.

New Neighbors Students in level 6 spent time together enjoying the beautiful fall colors at Mount Vernon this time of year! 🍂🍁

Family Services Specialist hosted Campagna’s annual Fall Festival for our Early Childhood Programs this past weekend! Our students and their families came together and enjoyed family fun activities along with some arts and crafts and face painting. The Family Services Specialist, teachers, and ECP team worked alongside one another at each activity and kept the families engaged. The Fall Festival was a big hit and can’t wait to see what’s store for next year! 🍁🍂🎃

Once again, the Taste of Scotland will be held at The Atrium (277 S. Washington St.)! We are so grateful to our partners, W.C. & A.N. Miller Development Company and , for providing us with this amazing event space for our annual holiday fundraiser. Please raise a cheer for their generosity! 💚❤️

We were so happy to have so many Friends of Campagna all together at our headquarters earlier this month to celebrate the start of another year of volunteering in support of our mission. Over 50 people joined us at Campagna Center Headquarters on Sunday to celebrate Welcoming Week, part of an annual national campaign that celebrates how communities can become welcoming places for all, including immigrants. Sponsored by the New Neighbors and Wright to Read programs, the event allowed families to share their experiences and highlight aspects of their identity and cultural heritage through multiple activities. We kicked off our Family Storytime with children’s author Hanh Bui reading “Anh’s New Word,” based upon Hanh’s childhood experience of living in a Vietnamese refugee camp. Then, Wright to Read students recited their “Where I’m From” poems, followed by City of Alexandria Poet Laureate Zeina Azzam leading a poetry workshop with our families. Families left with tummies filled with sweet treats from local restaurants and gift bags that included both speakers’ books, a workbook with writing prompts to start collecting their family stories, and family literacy tips for multilingual learners.

A HUGE thanks to speakers and Zeina Azzam, as well as and for their support and promotion of the event.

Thank you for providing physicals to children in our early childhood programs at no cost this week! After attending our Health Fair last week, families were given the chance to schedule a free physical appointment with Inova Health to ensure their child is ready for the classroom. We are so grateful that our families have access to this critical resource, and we are so appreciative of our excellent partners at Inova!
