2013 Summer Art Camp in Alexandria, Virginia at www.luisatio.com It’s time for Art Camp 2013! You can read more about Ms. Tio here. Registration.
This summer we will be holding four one-week session for rising 1st through 6th graders between July 8 and August 2. A different theme each week will help the children see the world around them in new ways and express their creativity in a small group environment. Children will get to use a wide variety of drawing, painting, and sculpting media to explore different artistic ideas and their own art
istic visions. Stories and narratives will help us travel through time and space to learn about different artists and cultures. We’re still completing the details of this summer’s themes, but by looking at the descriptions and news from last summer’s camps, you can get an idea of the type of fun things that we will do and be posting details on soon! We’ll also get out of the studio on field trips to explore the art and sources of artistic inspiration in our very own community. Last summer our field trips included exploring the work of great artists at the National Gallery of Art, Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden, and the Museum of the Americas; drawing from nature at River Farm; and emulating Leonardo da Vinci sketching people and places in our notebooks as we walked and rode trolleys through Old Town Alexandria. And since it’s summer, we’ll make sure we have some outdoor fun every day we’re not otherwise out and about! Camp will run from 9 am to 3 pm and we’ll have after care available for those families who would like it. Each day we’ll provide snack, and campers will bring their own lunch. The director of the camp will be local artist and art teacher Luisa Tio. We’ll soon have forms available to register your young artist for camp. Please check back on this page and our website at www.luisatio.com for updates. In the meantime, if you have particular dates that you would like to inquire about openings, please send Luisa Tio an e-mail at [email protected] or call her at 703-599-7923. Camp Sessions will be July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-26, and July 29 – August 2.
