May 17th is NEC Awareness Day. Necrotizing enterocolitis is a leading cause of death in preterm infants. Signs and symptoms of NEC in patients can be tricky and subtle, and its onset can be incredibly fast. Early identification of NEC and prevention is essential in decreasing morbidity and mortality. 🩵
