TJ Science Olympiad

On May 24-25th, TJ Science Olympiad wrapped up the Science Olympiad National Tournament hosted at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln where we broke the top 20 overall! In total, we took home 4 medals from the National Tournament! TJSO took home 3rd in Anatomy and Physiology, 4th in Entomology, and 6th in Geologic Mapping and Engineering CAD! We are proud of our teams for their amazing performance at the UNL National Tournament and for a successful season overall! We would like to thank University of Nebraska for hosting this year’s National Tournament, our coaches for all the help they gave us all season, and our chaperones who came all the way to Nebraska to support the team!

On March 29th, TJ Science Olympiad wrapped up the Virginia Science Olympiad States Tournament hosted in University of Virginia where we got 1st place overall! In total, we took home 20 medals from UMW Regional! TJSO took home 1st place in Astronomy, Chemistry Lab, Dynamic Planet, Ecology, Experimental Design, Forensics, Geologic Mapping, and Botany, 2nd place in Air Trajectory, Anatomy and Physiology, Entomology, Fossils, Helicopter, Materials Science, Microbe Mission, Robot Tour, and Tower, 3rd in Disease Detectives, Wind Power, and Cybersecurity, 4th in Write It Do It, and 5th in Electric Vehicle! We are proud of our teams for their amazing performance at the UVA States Tournament and are excited for our upcoming Nationals hosted by the University of Nebraska Lincoln on March 23-24th, 2025!

On March 1st, TJ Science Olympiad wrapped up the University of Mary Washington (UMW) Regional Tournament where we got 3rd place overall! In total, we took home 56 medals from UMW Regional! Team Grizzly won 1st in Astronomy, Disease Detectives, Entomology, and Material Science, 2nd in Chemistry Lab and Geologic Mapping, and 3rd in Forensics and Optics! Team Panda placed 1st in Anatomy and Physiology, Dynamic Planet, and Optics, 2nd in Astronomy, Disease Detectives, Ecology, and Microbe Mission, and 3rd in Electric Vehicle, Entomology, and Fossils! Team Ice Bear took home 1st place in Chem Lab, 2nd place in Bungee Drop, Helicopter, and Material Science, 3rd in Disease Detectives and Microbe Mission! We are proud of our teams for their amazing performance at the UMW Regional Tournament and are excited for our upcoming States hosted by the University of Virginia on March 29th, 2025!

On February 21st, TJ Science Olympiad wrapped up the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational! We got an impressive 1st place overall! In total, we took home 45 medals from Carnegie Mellon University! Team Ice Bear won 1st in Electric Vehicle, Material Science, and Robot Tour, 2nd in Chemistry Lab, Code Busters, and Geologic Mapping, 3rd in Microbe Mission, Optics, and Write It Do It, 4th in Ecology and Entomology, 5th in Air Trajectory, Astronomy, and Helicopter! Team Grizzly placed 1st in Astronomy, Ecology, Fossils, and Geologic Mapping, 2nd in Entomology and Forensics, 3rd in Dynamic Planet, 4th in Air Trajectory, Anatomy and Physiology, Bungee Drop, Electric Vehicle, and Experimental Design, 5th in Material Science, and 6th in Optics, Robot Tour, and Wind Power! Team Panda took home 1st place in Entomology and Tower, 2nd place in Air Trajectory, Disease Detectives, and Dynamic Planet, 3rd in Experimental Design, 4th in Forensics, Fossils, and Helicopter, and 5th in Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry Lab, Codebusters, Electric Vehicle, Geologic Mapping, and Microbe Mission!

TJSO has also competed in the University of Virginia Invitational where we placed 1st place overall! In total, we took home 51 medals from the University of Virginia! We are proud of our teams for their amazing performance at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational and the University of Virginia Invitational and are excited for our upcoming States hosted by the University of Virginia on March 29th, 2025!
