Egypt’s Nile Tactics Are “A Losing Game,”: Uppsala University Prof.
Uppsala University Professor Ashok Swain says some Egyptian politicians are using the Nile and GERD issue to distract from domestic failures, relying on misinformation and hostility toward Ethiopia.
He argues Egypt is trying to block Ethiopia’s sea access just as it tried to obstruct its Nile rights—calling it “a losing game.”
Ethiopia says it will continue asserting its sovereign rights and rejects Cairo’s escalating rhetoric. Swain adds that Ethiopia’s regional influence is rising as Egypt’s wanes.
