Jessica Calm & Colorful Founder of Calm & Colorful | Creator of Mama Pause 💜
Science-backed guided audio resets that help overwhelmed moms feel calmer in under 5 minutes.

Helping moms find calm in the middle of real-life motherhood. Hi, I'm Jessica, founder of Calm & Colorful, creator of Mama Pause, and most importantly mama to Korbin. I started Calm & Colorful because I believe emotional regulation isn't something we should only learn after we're overwhelmed. It's a skill we can practice every day, in the little moments that make up family life. My mission is to help parents, especially toddler moms, create calmer, more connected homes through practical, science-informed tools that fit into real life. I'm an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC), certified Parent, Family, Children's, Teen, and Youth Coach, as well as a certified Mindfulness and Breathwork Coach. I'm also an MBA candidate and continually research evidence-based strategies to make emotional regulation simple and accessible for busy families. Through Calm & Colorful, you'll find:

Mama Pause: short guided audio resets for moms
Parent coaching
Emotional regulation resources
Children's coping tools
Family connection activities
Practical tips for navigating everyday parenting challenges

No guilt. No perfection. Just small, intentional moments that help you pause, reconnect, and respond the way you want to. Whether you're in the middle of toddler chaos, trying to break generational patterns, or simply looking for a little more calm in your day, you're welcome here. Let's build calmer families—one pause at a time. 💜

If you have ever bought something for yourself and then never opened it, this one is for you. I do it constantly.

So I made the beginning as small as I possibly could.

Five days. Under two minutes each. One thing per day and nothing to finish.

Press play out loud. Find your pause spot. Colorful, center, calm. Center in the loud. Square breathing.

That is the whole thing. Five days, less than ten minutes in total, and by the end you have a thing you can do without me.

Comment PAUSE and I'll start you on Day 1.

The couch dips at 8:47pm, show paused mid cliffhanger, phone finally face down for once.

There's a track in the Mama Pause library called Soft Landing, built for that exact gap, the stretch between the last task of the day ending and permission to actually stop arriving. Seventy five seconds, no headphones needed, just something to let your whole body believe the day is actually done.

It sits in the Repair set, next to the other tracks made for the in-between moments, not just the big wind-down at bedtime.

Curious what Soft Landing sounds like? Grab the full library for $12/month (or $99/year) at calmandcolorful.com/mamapause.

You're stopped at a red light, blinker already going, and the backseat is in full volume meltdown.

Try this: hum one long, low note until you run out of breath, then let the next inhale happen on its own. The vibration in your throat and chest is a direct line to your nervous system, telling it to downshift even while the noise keeps going. It works at a red light, in the pickup line, standing at the sink with the water running.

Want more resets like this, ready the second you need one? The full Mama Pause library is $12/month (or $99/year) at calmandcolorful.com/mamapause.

A third of the mamas I've interviewed are therapists, OTs and teachers. They described more shame than anyone, not less.

Comment PAUSE if that landed.

I got something wrong and it took a mama telling me straight to see it.

I built Mama Pause for the moment it goes wrong. The meltdown, the losing it, the six o'clock. That was the whole premise.

Then she told me she does not feel like she cannot get to things in the moment. Which is, you know, the entire thing I built.

She was right.

Because the mamas who actually use these do not use them in the meltdown. They use them in the car on the way to pickup. Lying in bed. In the twenty minutes before it turns.

And some of them use them when nothing is wrong at all, when something went right and they want to stay in it a minute longer.

So it is not only for the hard bits. I had to be told.

Comment PAUSE and I'll send you one for a good minute.

Half of this week's new track notes got written on the back of a grocery list in the pickup line, because that's genuinely when the ideas show up, not at a desk with a cup of coffee going cold.

Building Mama Pause mostly happens in those scraps, waiting rooms, red lights, the three minutes before practice lets out. I used to think I needed a quiet office to do real work. Turns out the real work was already happening in the gaps the whole time.

Want to hear what came out of this week's pickup line? Mama Pause is $12/month (or $99/year) at calmandcolorful.com/mamapause.

Your alarm hasn't gone off yet, but you're already awake, lying there for five extra minutes with your eyes closed, not asleep anymore and not up yet either.

That's not you being lazy before the day starts. That's a pause you took on your own, before anyone asked you for anything. Rest like that isn't a reward waiting at the end of a long list, it's already yours, same as this job always came with it.

Great mamas need a pause too. This is yours.

Ready to take one on purpose instead of just before the alarm? Mama Pause is $12/month (or $99/year) at calmandcolorful.com/mamapause.

There's a thing I noticed talking to mamas, and it stopped me.

One of them subscribes to Lovevery every single month. Never questions it, box shows up, she's glad.

She'd bought nothing for herself. Not one thing. Not a single thing for her own head.

And she's not unusual, I've watched it over and over. We'll spend on them without blinking and hesitate for a second on ourselves.

I'm not telling you to stop buying the play kits. Oh my gosh, buy the play kits.

I'm asking what's the last thing you bought that was only for you.

Comment PAUSE if you cannot answer that one either.

The twenty minutes before the coffee lands.

Everyone is awake. Somebody needs something. You are technically upright and none of you is actually online yet, least of all you.

I used to think the hard part of the day was five o'clock. It is one of them. The other is this, and it gets no attention at all because it is not dramatic. It is just fog with children in it.

So there is one for the morning now. You can listen to it with your eyes half shut and a child on you.

You do not have to be a morning person. I am not one.

Comment PAUSE and I'll send you the morning one.
