🌟 EVERY VOICE DESERVES A PLACE TO SHINE. 🌟

Today, we are incredibly excited to introduce the newest member of the SLYC family:

✨ SHINE ✨

SHINE is our brand-new inclusive and adaptive choir created to remove barriers to ensemble singing for neurodivergent students and students with cognitive, physical, or neurological disabilities.

And there’s no audition. 💛

SHINE is open to students in grades 6–12 and special education students through age 22. Through adaptive teaching strategies and individualized supports, singers with a wide range of abilities and needs will have the opportunity to meaningfully participate in a true choir experience.

Because choir should be about more than hitting the right notes.

It’s about making music. 🎶
Building friendships. 🫶
Playing, laughing, learning and growing together. 🌱
Finding your voice.
And knowing that your voice belongs.

Along the way, our SHINE singers will build musicianship and ensemble skills while discovering what it means to :

🌟 Lead
✨ Spread Joy
🫶 Care

📅 Monday evenings
⏰ 5:30–6:30 PM
🎤 Grades 6–12 + special education students through age 22
✨ Non-auditioned

This is something we’ve dreamed about for a long time, and we cannot wait to welcome our very first SHINE singers into the SLYC family.

Thinking about auditioning for SLYC… but feeling a little nervous? 😬💗💚

You are definitely not the only one.

Auditions can feel intimidating, especially when you care about the outcome. But here’s what we want you to know: we are not looking for perfection.

We’re looking for singers who are ready to learn, willing to grow, and excited to make music with others. 🎶

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t need to know every answer. You just need to show up, be yourself, and let us hear your voice.

So if nerves are the only thing holding you back, take the leap. You might be surprised by what’s waiting on the other side. ✨

Great choirs start with great people. 💗💚

Behind every SLYC rehearsal, performance, breakthrough, belly laugh, and “YES—you finally got it!” is a team of educators who genuinely love what they do.

Our teachers bring incredible musicianship and experience to the podium—but more importantly, they believe in young people. They’re here to challenge our singers, encourage them, help them find confidence in their voices, and create a place where every singer knows they belong. 🎶

As we get ready for another incredible season, we can’t wait to welcome our singers back—and meet the new faces who will become part of the SLYC family this year.
