The Better Half…My wife , my best friend and magic behind the camera. We not only celebrated 5 years of the channel today but also 16 years of marriage in the same month. You always help keep my head up when I get discouraged at times, and inspire me with your talent (more than you know). You always bring a smile to my face and as we always tell each other, “I love the $h!t out of you!”

Let’s keep this thing going my love and never look back…

The Glen Hats…These wee fiddly bits have been a hit and all thanks to Steve Wampler & aka Mike Pierce . These have been a fun addition to the freebies we send out to supporters and have come in clutch during the summer months when the critters want some of that whiskey too. A big shout out to them for making these happen. They’re also responsible for the bling you occasionally see around our necks 😂.

Thank you both for being badass! 🥃💯

John Kay aka Best Palate West of Iceland… The story of .kay.79 goes back a few years waiting in an allocated whiskey line outside of Paradise Liquors. I was chatting it up with someone about (wait for it) whiskey and before you know we were doing a side by side of Old Elk Double Wheated vs. Four Grain on camera. By the way, being on video is not as easy as one thinks it is, but John makes it look easy and when we get to talking we can T A L K….

If you don’t already know, John has quite the impressive collection (if we can call it collecting) of unicorns that I don’t ever expect to catch up to in my lifetime. I still have more bottles than him so I got that on him 😂 Jokes aside, he as always been a great friend and always willing to let me try the hard to find stuff. Just as an example, he had won a chance to get a William L. Weller BTAC bottle and let me have the first crack at it. If that isn’t supporting the channel and good science I don’t know what is!

Raise your glasses whiskey fam! To friends who come in clutch and keep it real. Cheers 🥃💯

5 Year Anniversary Tasting was Amazing! Thank you everyone who made it and shared drams to commemorate this milestone. Our peeps even came in from Denver and Dallas to celebrate. Although you didn’t quite hear the “soothing sounds of your boy Whiskey One “ we enjoyed some hitters! I can’t tell you how grateful I am right now. Cheers!!! 🥃💯

P.S. Thank you to Patrick Starkey , Chad Terry , Chris Stamport for helping me capture some great moments 📸

…Well for starters, Nick Rivera is definitely the life of the party, even if he says so. He’s that guy that brings the good stuff to share with friends just to see what they think. Always down to try the weird and different stuff, just like me, and that’s why we hit it off so well. Introduced by our friend Terry Kost, I knew we would get along great once he told me about his affinity for barrel aged beers, stouts, ryes, American single malts and mezcal. Most people are walking away from that conversation but not Nick. He’s all in!

He’s one of those genuine people you can disagree with entirely and still be cool as hell afterwards. He claims to have the best palate south of Iceland, so I guess that leaves me to be the best north of Iceland. I think he’s full of $hit but we can agree to disagree. I’ll let you tell it!

He’s my road dawg for life and always down to do a video about whatever we’re in the mood to drink that day. BTW his 49ers got beat early in the season by my Vikings (shocker), but we can still kick it right?!?! 🤣

Oh yeah, if you ever need someone to make your whiskey taste better with some amburana finishing, I know a guy. Cheers homie 🥃

Daniel my brother…You know that song right?!?! In life you get to meet rare and genuine people; those that would do just about anything for you. Daniel Warren is that guy!

It was about four years ago that I kept wondering where are all the local whiskey groups at? One day I came across the page who announced a Balcones tasting going on. If you know me, you know I’m about that TX heat! I found myself sitting amongst whiskey fans and mostly newbies to Balcones. I also happened to meet my friend .martin Martin Ulloa for the first time who was the guest speaker as he used to work for Balcones. He now owns where the old Boxing Bear used to be off Alameda. You gotta check out his spot and get you some great🍻 Okay I seriously digressed there…

It all started when I got to talking to Daniel and quickly noticed that southern drawl, and he told me he was from TN. His passion for whiskey was obvious, so I asked him if he’d be willing to do a whiskey video with me? “Sure! Why Not?!” Our 1st video was a Jack Daniel’s barrel proof bourbon vs rye comparison (JD is his favorite brand, of course) and the chemistry, the vibe and the friendship was instant. A few videos, barrel picks and whiskey tastings later and here we are.

It could have been one of those relationships where we competed against each other, but instead we’ve accomplished more together. Daniel, you are a great friend and can’t wait to share drams with you at the festivus. Even if your Steelers aren’t as good as my Vikings this year 🤣

Love you man!

Supporters…We wouldn’t have a channel without you. When we started all we had was a handful of close friends who believed in us and eventually we began hearing from people all over the country and some overseas. I have yet to meet some of my biggest fans in person and one day I hope to.

I’d like to tell you a story about how I met my good friend .kost.hemingway.9 . It was by chance that someone noticed one of my comments on (and our NM logo) on some other WhiskeyTube, and decided to give us a follow.

This gentleman would provide constructive feedback and always willing to recommend what I should try next. A lot of my earlier videos featured reviews of and he mentioned I should be on their payroll 😂 On another occasion he revealed he lived in town and would be willing to share some of his Sotol for the cause since I also opined about tequila. For one reason or another (mostly because I was nascent), I failed to take him up on his early offer but still managed to find the Sotol he recommended.

I later found myself at an bottle share and brought a bottle of Laws corn whiskey. Someone asked me about it and before I could dive into my spiel I heard this voice over my shoulder ask “Well did Laws ever get you on their payroll?” I turned around quickly and bewildered, wondering who in the hell is this fellow? And what does he know that I don’t? It turned out to be my staunchest ally. Mr. Kost has introduced me to other whiskey enthusiasts, such as and has been a mentor ever since. Even if he never intended to be.

Now I turn my attention to the rest of my champions. The cadre of madres y padres and sometimes single Maria’s and Andre’s. I sincerely appreciate the love you all throw our way! So if you see someone sporting a Whiskey One shirt on their back, raising a Glencairn with our logo on it, or slapping one of those Glen hats on their dram to keep the bugs out…give em that homie nod of assurance. You are sipping with good peeps, and that’s all that matters. Cheers 🥃

Collaborators - We could not have gotten this far without a little help from our friends. We’ve been very blessed to meet some of the coolest people on the planet who share our love of whiskey and the channel.

Lately, I’ve shared these thoughts with my friends on how I would not have ever met or gotten to know them or such amazing humans if not for whiskey. Now I’m not saying it’s the only way to meet friends, but damn is it the funnest! Some have been by happenstance, some by luck, while others simply crossing paths along our own journeys. These last 5 years have taught me to cherish these moments because friends come and go whether you want them to or not. Life happens. People either stay together or drift apart because that’s what time does. But, time also grows some of the strongest and unshakable bonds.

Let me take this moment to thank those of you who helped shape the channel to what it is today. Much love and a big thank you!!! to Daniel Warren & Liz Sanchez Warren, Nick Rivera , John Kay , Terry Kost , Patrick Starkey & Heather Starkey , Mike Pierce , Eric Elvigan , Eric McKinley of The Cult of Balcones , Justin T Gleason , Robert Fullbright , Paul Rivét , Gregg Thomas Shutiva , Ben Post , Javier Gomez aka Whiskey Reviews , Kenny Coleman , Jeffrey Bayer aka The Colorado Whiskey Guy , David Kearns , OakVale , Justin Madrid , Charlie Byers of Multi-Casking , Ed Escott of Bourbon Obsessed , Drew Hannush of Whiskey Lore , Orlan E Braman , Sam Poirier & James Kunz of Laws Whiskey House and many more…

P.S. I didn’t have pictures for some but I can tell you that you still mean a lot to me. Thank you 🙏🏽

This is the bottle that started it all… 10 yr was my wife’s idea of an 8 yr anniversary gift since she couldn’t find a bottle with an 8 yr age statement. I had no idea what to expect since I didn’t drink whiskey or any hard liquor at the time and never even heard of Laphroaig and knew nothing about Scotch whisky.

All I knew is I better look up how to best enjoy it, and read all kinds of ideas and landed on a rocks glass with a big ice cube. The smell alone made me feel like grandpa on an old leather seat reminiscing about life. This very act made me appreciate taking in the experience, thinking more and things slow. It taught me to be more in the moment and enjoying life a little more and a little longer…

This is a polarizing whisky and many people I run into say they love it or hate it, but mostly make faces when I bring it up. In a way, it makes me happy to know there’s more for a guy like me. Stick to your tater juice. But, if you too enjoy a smokey one as much as I do, raise your glasses for one. It’s about the one you enjoy! Cheers.

P.S. If you’re wondering what the hell is a bottle of Maker’s Mark doing along side the Laphroaig? Just remember every bottle is made from whisky aged in an ex-bourbon barrel from MM. It’s a connection that goes back a long time. Here’s to making long time connections 🥃

A 5 Year Journey….

Whiskey fam! I want to share with you how excited I am about our upcoming celebration this Saturday and can’t wait to share this momentous moment with those of you who can make it. I feel blessed and although we have so much room to grow I wanted to share a heartfelt thank you to all of you who believe in our vision and what we do.

This year has been more about community building than cranking out videos. Why? Time and energy. A lot of time goes into production, but there’s a feeling of disconnect between us and the audience at the moment. It’s a tough market out there and everyone wants to be a YouTuber these days. When it’s all said and done I want us to be remembered for the connections and community we built and not on the hundreds of videos we put out. Videos get out-dated, opinions and palates change over time. In the end the people that are still with you matter the most.

You will see some posts sharing pieces of our journey together, and wanted to give you all a unique perspective on the why behind what we do.

THANK YOU!!! Cheers and Slainte 🥃💯
